My colleague and me stayed for the first night in two rooms located into the annex. We had some problems of A/C and smelling in the rooms, and the day after, the staff arranged to change our rooms for two in the main building, very comfortable. The staff was absolutely lovely and the cuisine is very good, although a bit expensive. Nice swimming pool and garden. They can also organize tours.

We had two consultants staying at Duke Lodge for 4 nights last week while they worked on a project for Nations. One of them left their bag in the restaurant – it contained his wallet, mobile phone, and lap top. It took him several hours to realize the bag was missing. We went back to the Hotel and the bag, with all the contents had been handed into security by the staff working in the restaurant – that would not have happened in many hotels anywhere in the world. Kudos to Elizabeth and her team working in the restaurant.

This charming hotel took me back to another time. Its old colonial style blended well with a deep swimming pool beautiful gardens and friendly staff. I would definaty stay there again as I slept well and felt very safe with its security and very safe location. Oh yes and good wholesome food, lots of it.

I enjoyed dinner at the hotel restaurant on site during Restaurant Week. I ordered the steak and also had a Mango Mousse Cake for dessert. Most amazing atmosphere, calming light effects and the food was top class. I could not have asked for a better evening out in Georgetown!

Friendly service, and throughout the dining area art was featured, and some of the profit would go towards charity. Comfortable dining and art with a cause. Great way to maximise your dining experience.

I have stayed in Guyana many times. Duke's is by far my favorite place to stay, as well as to get a good meal, relax, and get my thoughts together. The people here are so friendly, and they are always willing to accommodate. The property is not fancy, but definitely what you want in a stay if you are looking for cold air conditioning, soft beds, good food, friendly people, and an overall better understanding of the true nature of the culture of Guyana.

Leshauna, Connie, and Natasha are very helpful in the front of house....and always have a smile on their faces when I show up. Sometimes with a large, scary beard from being in country, coming from off shore.....or clean shaven when I am ready to get back to the US. They have always been professional and friendly....no matter what!

Raul has created a very good menu. The food is delicious, especially the shrimp dishes! We have had a taste test to determine the best pepper sauces from around the major hotels many of us stay.....Raul's won....hands down! For breakfast, Miss Devon will definitely take care of you as well, and Niressa seems to always be working (super awesome!)  and always taking care of us in any capacity. Cannot say enough good things about them!

If you would care for a drink, or just want to relax at the bar.... Roshauna is usually working. She's absolutely great. The best bartender I've met in Guyana! When you think of one you can talk to... have her remember you... just relax and have a good time, she is it! 

If you have any issues... talk to Mona Lisa. She doesn't take crap. You'll see her. She's super friendly, and make things happen if you need to. Enough said. And I wouldn't mess with her. Get my drift??:)

You want information, tours, to know what is going on in Georgetown and Guyana....this place is yours....  You want a glamorous, expensive, cookie cutter hotel? Go somewhere else. This place is real, and I will recommend this place every time!

The property is well kept, very clean and an attentive staff. It is not a traditional hotel but a clever conversion that keeps the old Georgetown feel yet offers excellent amenities of a 'box' hotel. Rooms are attractive, and the kitchen provides both international and local cuisine. Try something with breadfruit. We would revisit. In Georgetown this is an easy choice.

Definitely not very sophisticated but very cozy, great ambience, good service by Guyanese standards, affordable, and the food was excellent. I thought the waiting time was also good they offer several seating arrangements- poolside, upstairs dining, interior dining. I really enjoyed the experience. A definite recommend for a chilled, cozy conversation type experience.

Refreshingly Georgetown

Surprising

The room needs major improvements (the refrigerator, microwave and furniture are old). Low pressure water which does not allow constant flow when taking a bath, sometimes there is water interruption. Mosquitos get inside the room, take insect repellent as this gets worse outside. The food at the restaurant is good and the staff is very friendly.

Not that great...

1. Little to no water running in the bathroom . Made it almost impossible to shower. Ridiculous. 
2. If you need anything at night (even a bottle of water) they won't sell it to you. 
3. Room furniture is extremely old. 
4. There is a bad smell in the rooms. 
5. Pool is disgusting, hasn't been properly cleaned in a long time. 
6. Food at the restaurant takes forever to come. They take the order and then come 30 minutes later to tell you "it's not available". Totally unacceptable. 
7. Rooms are full of mosquitoes. 
8. Considering all this, the rate they charge per night is extremely high. This hotel does not meet international standards in any way.

Extremely bad experience, overpriced

Terrible customer service, after making orders .. 1hr 30mins after then to be told,  sir your selected meal isn’t available.. this is crazy, then after which .. the drink is being spilled .. ruined my entire date 🙁🙁🙁
