I realize I'm a little late to the party, but I stayed here a while back and it was one of the best experiences of my life.  My 7 friends and I occupied two of the (six?) thatched-roof cabins that rest in this beautiful ocean-side resort.  The Pelicanos Hotel is very secluded which I think adds to it's comfort and charm.  The pool and hot tub are very nice, and the food was outstanding.  This is still the best cheviche I've ever had, and it saddens me to live so far away.  Surfing here was a lot of fun as well.  If you're looking to get away from it all in Guatemala, and you don't mind a 3-hour drive from Antigua, I highly recommend the Pelicanos.

Two great nights at this great hotel.  Beautiful hotel by the sea.. pools so great.  Strongly recommend shrimp seviche.  Rooms very clean and comfortable.  Don't miss breakfast early in the morning watching the sun coming out.

An Amazing Experience

Awesome

The room was pleasant with available A/C. One of the lights flickered on and off for the duration of our stay. Nice pools and easy access to the beach. The staff was friendly. We didn't eat at the restaurant except for the included breakfast. It was much cheaper to go to a restaurant in town. Why pay Q225 for shrimp when you can pay Q40 for the same plate?

Acceptable but overpriced 

ABSOLUTELY avoid!!!! We booked a room for our friends who were staying with us for 1 night as our hotel only had 1 night available and we needed a second night. This place is a nightmare. The grounds look nice but it’s deceiving as they had no electricity and didn’t bother telling us. They were rude and told us basically that “tough sh*t” that it is not their responsibility. They didn’t even attempt to give reasonable customer service. They told us the electricity has just gone out, meanwhile their reviews from months ago complaint of no electricity. Be wary if you book them, as you might end up with a room with no electricity that is paid for and possibly no other option in El Paredon as other accommodations book up very quickly if it is a weekend. We ended up booking elsewhere for our friends. But what a huge inconvenience since they were already there. Hotel is rundown but the nonexistent customer service and rude attitude are the worst part of it. I’ve never had such a rude interaction in Guatemala.

RUDEST INTERACTION IN THE WHOLE GUATEMALA

A sad place with an amazing location and great potential, but for what it is now offering....not much...it is way overpriced. For the same price or a bit more you can go to Dos Mundos in Monterrico, which is 5 star compared to this minus star hotel!
On the phone we were given a price and told there was WiFi, when we arrived, there was no WiFi....hasn't been for several years! They had no idea what price we were paying, then tried to charge us for breakfast, which was included and charged Q220 for a bottle of wine...the same one we got in another hotel next door for Q100! The bedding on the beds had seen better days. I do not blame the staff at all, but the owners for total disorganization.
NOT recommended, especially when now there are other options in Paredon, which is a fabulous, peaceful, off-the-beaten track place!

Overpriced and neglected

This place has been abandoned. I wouldn’t even dare to go there for free. I wold advise to take this out of TripAdvisor. Looked and felt dangerous in my opinion. There was not even a manager it was the guardian who was receiving the guest and working as “host”.

Horrible.

The worst in Paredon 

Worst food ever. Onion rings ? No fries. 
Is a good place to stay but the restaurant take to much.time to bring the food , was cold, so few and so expensive.. and there no other restaurants around so we have to buy the food here
