Ritsas Hotel

This years holiday to Skiathos town involved staying at the Ritsa Hotel. The Ritsa is literally 5mins from Papadiamanti street and the throngs of the town. At the hotel, the rooms are plenty big enough with a small cooking area (if you fancy eating in that is) which we don't. There is also plenty of space for clothing etc. The bathroom is small but a nice shower. The rooms also have a nice little balcony that over looks the street or at the back, the pool. The pool is small but adequate for a few lengths. A small bar (not always manned though) and tbh, not well stocked when it is open. The pool area isn't used to capacity to be fair, so I can see the reasoning for not opening the bar. Literally 2mins around the corner towards the main street, is the start of the restaraunts. Our fave is the SECRET GARDEN which is family run. Michael being front of house. Give it a try, you defo wont be disappointed. There are so so many places to eat and drink you certainly wont be spoilt for choice. Our fave bar was Aspirolls opposite Dino's restaraunt. Christo the waiter there is just brill. Another good bar is the King and Queen tucked away up one of the many lanes and Agelo is the man. Also, the Blind dog, Bembows and Phedrock to name but a few. One thing we like about Skiathos is that how cosmopolitan it is. Everyone are so friendly!! We couldn't go without our annual trip to the dog sanctuary up the hill to the right of bus stop 18. It's a fair trek up a long winding hill but well worth it when you get to the sanctuary. The dogs are so well looked after and always look healthy and very keen to get out for a walk. Thankfully lots of them (if not all) are re-homed mainly in the UK or Denmark. Defo worth a trip up there. If hiring a car, then my advise would be a JEEP as lots of the roads in the hills, are somewhat, ROUGH going. Again well worth a trip out and about to see the island. Two places we love are, Ligaries beach and its lovely taverna and Kechyria beach which has lush grass and sunbeds just under the taverna (beautiful spot). Getting back to the Ritsa, Anthena who basically does everything, is an absolute star. She works so hard and is always there. We are planning to go back next year and will defo stay at the Ritsa if available. Give it a whirl and you wont be disappointed. Oh, one other place we recommend is, the tennis club. They have a lovely pool and taverna. The food is really nice and it's just lovely to laze around there. Seek it out and you again, wont be disappointed. To get there, seek out the Alkyon hotel at the end of the port. Turn left there and past the big car park. Bear left again and the TC is on the right. Beds are 5 euros each and it gets busy so get there fairly early. All on all, we can't wait to go back. Enjoy...🌞😎🌞😎🌞😎🌞
