I’ve never felt a need to rave this enthusiastically about a hotel before. The Vasilicos feels like a dream. I felt more relaxed, ensconced in beauty, and luxuriously cared for at this property than I tend to at properties that are 2-4x the price. The team is warm, kind, and attentive. They make a point to personalize your experience and truly go above and beyond. The view is mind-blowing; many people gather at the upper gate and nearby viewpoints while on the Fira-Oia path, and you have that view all day from your private, quiet oasis. The sunset is spectacular, without needing to brave the Oia crowds or make special reservations. Along the path, so many hotels lack privacy, with the throngs of tourists able to see into patios and rooms, but the Vasilicos is perfectly hidden from view. You feel like you’re in private paradise, not on one of the more popular tourist destinations on the planet. The rooms have many thoughtful touches in addition to the oft-noted pillow menu (e.g. multiple pillar candles in nice hurricanes, free postcards & postage mailing). The property’s attention to beauty on so many levels is exquisite. The food program is also great - like many others, I highly recommend the candlelight caldera dinner. Staying here feels like you’ve entered heaven for a few days.
