I had a wonderful stay at this small hotel in the Kambos area. I loved the upper terrace in the evening and the lower garden terrace during the day. The wifi worked perfectly and the hosts were hospitable and friendly. While this is not a luxury hotel, it is well worth the price, especially to be able to stay in such a beautiful old mansion with the gorgeous gardens! Highly recommend!!

First of all this is not a full service place for 5 star hotel tourists. This is a place to taste and experience the history, culture, agriculture and local traditions in Chios, Karfas.

The owners are very nice, always smiling very elegant and happy people. This makes you feel happy during your stay. Amazing historical estate that sits inside a wonderful garden covers all of your needs for peace and enjoy. Specially the organic agricultural acts around the building gives this place a unique texture. 
You are having all your basic needs perfectly in a simple room. If you are needing a special service, the owners are giving their personal phone numbers in order to help you. Especially when they are leaving for their band Brasilionico Grupo Percussivo. Just appreciating such people because of their love of nature, music, history and bringing their heritage to modern times.

First of all,people who will read this comment,please consider that  is a boutique hotel and a slice of the traditional life of the Kambos area, do not forget it!

We thank the hotel owners for everything. The Kambos region and the hotel were beyond what we imagined. Among the orange gardens is a region surrounded by high old stone walls,  the furnitures of the hotel is worthseeing.

ı have been in Chios,ı have never enjoyed so much of the island  thanks to the hotel.. next time I will definitely stay here and enjoy the uzo in this garden. 😉

Transportation; it is very easy with your own facilities (bicycle rental car). ıts near to Chios Center for 10 min by car.
 Hygiene; The room, the bathroom-toilet, the hotel is really clear.

Service - Quality; The hotel owner is helping in almost every aspect. Unlike other hotels, the hotel has its own car park. The breakfast was excellent. You will not believe in the freshness of their own eggs and the freshness of their products and their true nature.

A Great Small Hotel in Kambos!

Characteristic and ethnic.

It could be a great stay but the management service was badly executed and spoiled the whole experience. To our great surprise, the property hosted 2 weddings (very loud, with a live music just under our windows and hundred people going in and out). Nobody informed us about it when we made a booking. But the worst part was the manager response when we asked to reduce the volume of the music at 3am. She just replied that she could not do anything. After the second request, she indeed tried to ask the wedding band to play less loud, but the music continued till 4am. The same manager forgot to give us the keys from the main door during check-in. And we could not enter the building when we were back on the first night. Luckily we had our friends staying at the place, so we had to wake them up at midnight to open the door. Plus, there was no wife. We were lucky to get some connection once in a while downstairs near the restaurant area. But when you are on the vacation, wifi is the must 24/7, preferably at your own room. The positive things: the territory of this mansion is great. It also provides a spectacular view. Our room was pretty small but clean. The breakfast was great and Christina who cooked and served it was super friendly.

Almost zero customer service

Do not be fooled by the pretty pictures; this “hotel” leaves a lot to be desired….customer service being one of them!
The hotel is located in the picturesque area of Kampos and the building itself is a beautiful old mansion but that’s about it.

The long version:
Our stay was something out of hotel nightmares…It was difficult to relax at the hotel during the day as works were being carried out and on the weekend there were weddings hosted on both nights with blasting music until 4am on the Saturday, making it impossible to sleep. Of course we were never informed about any of these events when making the booking!
As beautiful as the location might be you definitely require your own transportation mode as there are no amenities nearby and it's a 11 euro taxi ride into Karfas, the nearest beach with restaurants and shops.  Mavrokordatiko, in general, feels more like rental rooms than a hotel. The once luxurious old mansion has been modestly converted into very basic accommodation offering the bare minimum.  The room was spacious but let down by the bathroom which had no ventilation and smelled of mould.
Wifi was temperamental and only worked 2 out of our 5 days we stayed there. Oh and did I mention that we were locked out of the hotel?! The staff in the premises would latch both the entrances from the inside. However, the best part is that this also happened to another couple staying at the hotel on a different occasion as they were given the wrong keys.

But by far the customer service and the running of the hotel was the greatest disappointment.
