The Elli Apartments complex is located about 10 minutes outside the Malia party centre which is totally great! because it is a great way to relax in front of the British party people and not notice anything about the drive during the day or night. The rooms are pleasantly large, clean and contain everything you need for a relaxing holiday. We had a room with a balcony to the garden/pool side, so you had a nice view. The pool is pleasantly deep and cold, so it is a very good respite from the hot temperatures on Crete. The week we stayed in the Elli Apartments, we were 90% alone at the pool. Almost like a swimming pool; the private guest is also supercomplete and we would also like to visit the park.

If visiting with friends stay away. 

THERE ARE COCKROACHES IN THE ROOMS - we understand this is common in hot countries but when we told the host there were many huge cockroaches in our rooms he simply squashed them with his shoe in the showers and didn't clean up afterwards with any antibacterial cleaner, which seems very unprofessional and unhygienic. Furthermore, he also told us he had seen the cockroaches coming into the apartments earlier on that day, and why they weren't stopped before they came into our rooms is very alarming. 

The rooms were ok but the host was shouting at us for simple accidents such as accidentally leaving the fob in the wall, as well as things we hadn't done (throwing stones off the balcony and making loud banging noises at night). We all felt if this was a family with children staying in those rooms and the same incident occurred they would not be spoken to the way we were. He also threatened to call the POLICE on us during the last night at 1:20am when we weren't even being loud, something which you DO NOT do to guests who have PAID to stay in your apartments. 
The extractor fan in one room fell off whilst cooking twice hitting 2 of us on the heads really hard, which the host later blamed on us claiming we had broken it. 

As well as this, whilst the pool area is very nice with a deep pool, the host came and shouted at us to be quiet whilst in the pool in the middle of the day, so if you are a group of young people i would strongly recommend a hotel/apartment closer to the strip as the host clearly didn't want us to be there. 

Do not visit if on holiday with friends

Nice and quiet, reasonable facilities, equidistant between old and new Malia - 15 minute walk to the party centre.  Good sleep and very relaxed.  Antonio the guy that runs it is a really nice person and is always very helpful.  If you get a bus transfer be aware that the bus can't drop you at the apartments it has to drop you at the top of the road as it is too big to navigate down it.  We got dropped off like this at 2 am and were a bit worried, but Antonio god bless him came to get us.  It's not far about 5 mins walk down the road- but a bit creepy for two women who have never been there before and didn't expect it......  All in all really good value for money.

Chilled out stay

This is a relatively small family hotel on the outskirts of Mali. The area around the hotel is very well maintained, it is all flowery and green. There is a small swimming pool with lounges where you can have a pleasant time when the sea is stormy. The two-room studio rooms are quite spacious, with a balcony (we had a view of the garden), there is air conditioning and a safe without extra fees. The small kitchen is well equipped - there are all the necessary dishes, refrigerator, plates, microwave, teapot, coffee maker.
