Digkas Apartments

We stayed at this apartment for two weeks in June 2015. We thought we were booked in to Ziogas Apartments, but on arrival we were told we would be staying in the building next door, technically named Digkas Apartments. However, the two sets of accommodation are next door to each other and you enter via Ziogas Apartments and use the same pool. Also, Dimitris seems to the 'meet and greet' for both sets of apartments, and he does it excellently. We had some trouble with the private transfer as the taxi driver didn't know the location of the apartment. On hearing about this, Dimitris was mortified and asked to see whether we could get a refund and told us that he would drive us to the airport free of charge on our return to the UK (which he did - and wouldn't accept anything in return). Yeorgia and Vassilis were excellent hosts. We were offered a Greek coffee on our arrival and on a number of other occasions we were treated to freshly cooked fish, home made rice pudding and lemons fresh from their tree. Each day they asked how we were, where we had walked to that day, and whether we needed anything. They even offered to run us down to the supermarket one day and asked whether we needed anything bringing back. They were attentive and welcoming without being intrusive and we would definitely not hesitate to stay there again. On arrival it may seem that the apartment is somewhat isolated, but this is not the case. Both Dassia and Ipsos are both 20-30 mins walk away, with plenty of bars, restaurants and supermarkets. The village of Kato Korakiano is a 5 minute stroll with a supermarket, butcher, cafe/ bar and a couple of restaurants. We only ever ate in Kato Korakiana in the evenings - at 60 Needles restaurant and Select restaurant. Both excellent and would highly recommend. We frequented Joy's most days for a Mythos. We didn't bother hiring a car and walked everywhere - we can recommend the walk up to Ano Korakiana and on to Sokrarki. Also Spartilas, Agios Markos, Skripero. We caught the bus in to Corfu Town, which is lovely, on a number of occasions 1.50 euro each. The apartment is the basic Greek set-up of two single beds and a two-ring hob, fridge and kitchen sink in the same room. The shower was the usual curtain across one end of the bathroom and no paper is to be flushed down the toilet. I am not saying this to put travelers off, but simply to inform people of what to expect. We had a TV, but it only had Greek channels, which was not an issue. We also had wifi and air conditioning included with the room, both of which worked well. The room was cleaned every day and towels replaced every other day. If you arrive and think there is no kettle - look in the cupboard and you'll find a briki... In short, wonderful, hosts in a lovely peaceful setting, with plenty to see and do. I would not hesitate to return.
