Stayed in a newly refurbished room with a nice balcony, clean, with air condition, and even hair dryer and a tea set. Dimitris and Maria also have a restaurant offering delicious, fresh, quality meals cooked by Maria, often with fresh vegetables or fruits from their garden, on a lovely new pergola. You can also request a particular dish, should you wish to do so. The place is quiet, has a lovely familial, personal atmosphere, being run by loving members of the same family, which makes all the difference from big anonymous hotels. They make themselves very available for advice (places and restaurants to go to), help of any kind, for instance to organize a transfer or rent a car. Marathias beach is indeed very near (about 200m away). It's quite a large sandy beach, with good sand, crystal clean waters, safe for children (no sudden drop off, no current), quiet (no boats, jet skis etc.), perfect for a long swim and walks on the beach. You can choose lounges and umbrellas from different establishment on the beach. We always went to the closest one, where you don't have to pay for the lounges if you order food or a drink from the restaurant by the beach. It was the kingdom of Mr Christos, competently dealing with the food or drink orders, helping with the umbrellas, always with a smile. Food on the beach was also delicious, and affordable (fried fish, squids,saganaki, etc). So nice to get something else than the unavoidable sandwiches you generally find on the beach! Last but definitely not least, there is also a little shop just opposite the entrance of Family studios run by Mrs Penelope, the aunt of Dimitris. Apart from warm hearted and full of humour, she also has a small but very well stocked shop with bottles of water and other drinks, first necessity goods, but also stuff for the beach and even handicrafts from the island. All very handy and we went there almost daily !
