The owner is very kind and cooperative, the place is clean and new furniture, the hotel is not so far from Europa park , very quiet and well equipped rooms, they even took us to the train station for free in their own car ..

We staying with a family and everything was just perfect.
Only one small minus - there is a church near the place, and every hour we wake up with a belling sound. But - the rest was just fine. Children were happy.

Very clean and nice 

Perfect for staying in Rust and visiting Europa Park

Let's start with the positive:
1. It is within walking distance to Eoropark (20 minutes)
2. Large room with good kitchen facilities.
3. Well furnished. You have almost everything that you need.  
4. Nice and friendly owner.
5. The best thing about this room was a nice cat who insisted to jump in from the window. Probably this used to be its room until the owner decided to confiscate it for making more money. It’s a polite cat that you can easily send away, but it will return on the next opportunity. Good for cat lovers, like us. 

However, I cannot avoid mentioning the drawbacks. There are facts that the visitors must know in advance of booking:

1. It’s not an apartment but a single large room with a double bed and a two-floor children bed.
2. No free internet. There are many Wi-Fi networks around, but all are locked. No chance to check your email.    
3. It’s located on the ground floor, with all windows towards the house parking place. Cars are driving a few inches from your windows (but not many and not often). You can see the drivers and they can see into your room (the windows are very low). No other windows that you can use, only those towards the parking. 
4. The owner does not speak English. 
5. No microwave (but you get an electrical oven).
6. Your room has a large door to the owners’ house, which is locked from their side. It is not acoustically isolated, so you can hear every word that they speak and probably they can hear yours. 
7. The window in the bathroom faces a closed place (a store room?). You can only partially open that window and it is not sufficient for aeration.
8. No air-conditioner is available, not even a small fan. It gets pretty hot there during the summer, so you must open the windows during the night. But then, the passing drivers and all people walking in the parking place can see your bed.
9. The room is at a distance of ca 100m from the church bells and it rings 4 times per hour, also during the night. It is very loud, but most people can get used to it.      
10. It seems that this so called “apartment” was originally the house garage and the bathroom was the washing machine room. (But I am not sure) There are several steps from the room to the bathroom and you have to pass a corridor (which is used for storing).
11. We feel that this "apartment" was overpriced. It would be reasonable for an apartment, but not for a single room, especially with the above problems.

Our room was not a good one. Avoid this particular one.

Gastehaus Schmider may seem like a good value place nearby Europa Park, however, it is far from it. My booking experience has been horrendous with this particular accommodation.
I booked in February 2014 for travel in May 2014.

Most if not all accommodations in Rust, allow free booking and cancellation up to a certain time, except Gastehaus Schmider. It was a risk that I chose to take and regretted.

I had booked through lonelyplanet.com (an affiliate of booking.com) where the website had mentioned if I expected to arrive after 18:00 hours (there was no mention that any time after 19:00 was not tolerated), I was to contact the accommodation to request late check-in. I put this information in the booking details to request late check-in due to our limited flight options. However, the accommodation subsequently replied back through booking.com that they are unable to accommodate the request.

As a result, I was forced to cancel my reservation and incur the charges associated with cancellation because of the inflexibility of the accommodation.

I attempted to explain to booking.com and the accommodation that I should not be charged because this was a condition coming from the accommodation and was not my own choosing to cancel the reservation. Booking.com made me contact the accommodation but all attempts via email or phone have proven unsuccessful. The man in the house does not speak any English and the lady in the house speaks some English but is extremely rude and discourteous to native English speakers. 

Talking to her is like talking to someone who just cannot wait for you to shut up and go away. I cannot emphasize how many times I have been interrupted mid-sentence to hear the lady tell me that I should not be calling her despite my attempts to explain the circumstances in simple English terms.

This was supposed to be a simple trip that included 7 friends which has turned out to be a booking nightmare.

There are many other more accommodating places in Rust that I would suggest you to go to.
