A very friendly guesthouse located about 8km north of Hamelin in the village of Welliehausen. Getting to and from Hamelin was easy with the #5 bus running every 30 mins. Download the Deutsche Bahn app for timetable information and trip planning.  Very hospitable hosts and rates were reasonable. The breakfast was a simple German one of cold cuts , cheese, bread and jam. 

The room is probably one of the cleanest ones I have seen. It was fairly comfortable but in places you have to duck your head as the ceiling is low in places. The shower stall had a extremely narrow entry which was very awkward at times. Sleeping was done with the window wide open being a warm summer night. It was so quiet, we were startled awake by birds landing on the roof. 

The area is wonderfully peaceful, if the guesthouse had a restaurant and bar. It would have been the perfect stay. I had a great one night stay.

Really clean and peaceful

I rarely give negative reviews because I think that the work of others should be respected anyway. The room was spacious and well furnished, the breakfast was not infamous and without praise. The quality of sleep was good. Let's move on to the negatives. I had booked this hotel because it had to have a restaurant attached and being Monday it was a convenience to have a restaurant in the structure. It was a pity that it was closed since before the epidemic. But this is nothing. When we arrived at the normal check-in time (the 18th), there was no one there. I rang the bell and the answer was a dog barking. I called and he answered my phone number. It looked all abandoned. I knocked on the bells of the houses and a gentleman passed through the door and after 15 minutes the price was set and the owner didn't make it, and the answer was that the price was right.

Unfortunately closed.

Landgasthaus Hesse is generally an okay place. We cannot comment on the accommodation, as this is something we have never seen or used. We have however been to the restaurant a few times over the years. 

The staff are friendly enough, but the feel of the place is very dowdy, typical old German style. All that is a matter of taste and doesn’t generally speak against visiting though. 

The food however is not something we would recommend. Today we had wedges and they were burnt to a crisp. Nobody at our table seemed to mind this, but we were flabbergasted at how this could be served as food. Only about 10% of each wedge was still light in the middle, the rest was crisp. The fried vegetables we received were by and large okay, not too soft, still had a bite to them, but absolutley no seasoning at all. 

Even though it was not that busy, we had waited over 1,5 hours till our food arrived. 

They do have a nice seating area at the back outside and a large playing area for children.

Super service - top food, in the middle of the Weser Mountains in top location. I had the super juicy medium - Rupmsteak, - family business with heart. Anytime again! A secret tip for scraper mowers who want to eat in the countryside and also enjoy the view from the terrace

Great food in a really nice ambiance. Many very nice event buffets that satisfy many international and national revelers. Steaks are a bit expensive in my eyes but everything else is great and everything tastes great too. We're back.

Repeat offenders

We stayed here for 3 nights whilst visiting family  nearby! We were given a very warm welcome, nothing was too much trouble for the host Thomas!
The room was light and airy and spotlessly clean and very comfortable and very quiet !
We had an evening meal during our stay and it was delicious! Food cooked to perfection and very friendly service. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant. 
We would fully recommend the hotel and would definitely stay again. 


Fabulous Welcome

Sounds like a bit of a question...what/how is this supposed to be, but it was super delicious! Various sauces and side dishes and with the best: the fresh waffles for dessert 😍 Next time we'll try the snitz buffet!

Curry sausage buffet

Stayed at this super cozy gasthaus with two friends for a hiking/rock climbing weekend. We used booking.com at home to make our reservation, but as we arrived something had gone wrong in cyberspace with our booking (had booked a double room for three, but the reservation said one single room). The landlord/host/chef Thomas solved the problem with top skilled pragmatism 😊👍 Highly recommendable gasthaus with good food, beer and atmosphere! We will definitely return!

Hospitality at its best

The country house offers delicious and regional food, always fresh. Today we had the opportunity to make the Italian buffet. Absolutely delicious and versatile. We'll come back when we're in the area.

This is the second time we have stayed here and we cannot recommend the place high enough , friendly and welcoming family whom just can't do enough
For you during your stay . 
We have even booked for the xmas markets next year to take friends with us . 
Thank you for you hospitality where nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel part of the family x
