Fantastic
19 reviewsWe spent 8 nights in an apartment at this hotel, and took breakfast with the other guests for an extra charge. The apartment (Gloria) was spacious and spotlessly clean. We had a well-equipped bathroom with freestanding bath and also a walk-in shower. The toilet was separate and roomy, with a hand-basin provided. There was a comfortable sitting area with large-screen TV and a small kitchen beside the sitting-room, but we went out for meals. The bedroom had reasonable storage space and a very comfortable bed. The breakfast was very generous and varied, but without a fry-up option, which we probably wouldn't have chosen, anyway. The same variety was on offer every day, even when there were few guests overnighting. We were met at the station by Herr Küpper senior, and he and his son looked after us extremely well during our stay. They both appeared to speak excellent English and gave us little opportunity to use our German. At the end of our stay, we were driven back to the station. The hotel is close to the spa buildings and gardens, and the only slight discomfort was the fact that our flat was up two flights of stairs. The flat itself was very quiet. Bad Neuenahr is a pleasant, clean town with plenty of restaurants and a reasonable selection of shops. It was ideally placed for the Rotweinwanderweg, a footpath of some 40 kilometres through the vineyards of this predominantly red-wine-producing area. September and October would be an ideal time to visit, and the autumn colours added considerably to ,our enjoyment. A quartet plays light music in the gardens at weekends, and we also attended a symphony concert in the Kursaal during our visit. The Ahr valley is not on the usual tourist route for Brits, and we didn't hear a word of English whilst there (except from our hosts!).
