Hostel Villa Kursebi

We were stranded in Kutaisi after a tour gone wrong, but what started as a bad day turned out to be a great experience. This little guest house a few miles from the city center is not easy to find, but it's well worth the time we spent looking for it. 
It may not be a luxury hotel, but it's as authentic as it gets. Our hosts were generous and lovely , the traditional cooking was excellent and very fun to watch and the place is beautiful. Do not miss if you spend the night in the area!


Undoubtedly, this is an absolutely non-commercial place – especially for those who are looking for and expect something even more exceptional, unconventional and/or unusual in such a naturally exceptional country, full of unexpected pleasant moments. In fact, even the house, celebrating its 105-year anniversary, which its owner Dato has reconstructed and repaired by himself and arranged in the authentic style, is of priceless cultural value. The everyday-utility conditions there are perfect (all the apartments and utility rooms are very clean, there is a washing machine and a hairdryer, the shower is in good order, i.e., does not splash, the sewerage and plumbing system operate well and do not spread any bad and/or unpleasant odors). Furthermore, be sure that you will not feel either any unnatural cordiality or strained hospitality – I can assure you: I felt myself there like a real Queen. 
I was sitting on the terrace and idly gazing at the mysterious mountains, swimming in the evening brume, of course, with a glass of wine in my hand. The wine, same as the local food, was wonderful. I got a bottle of wine as a gift. Furthermore, I brought to Lithuania a jar of fantastically delicious tkemali and adjika.    
Later, I went for a short walk round the village, I found myself surrounded by clear air and unbroken lazy stillness. Suddenly, like in Switzerland, I heard a pleasant and peaceful sound of a cow bell. Soon after I met a pig, which succeeded to open the yard gates with the help of its snout. It would have really been an unforgivable sin if I had not taken quite a lot of wonderful and funny pictures.
It is worth to mention here that the village has its local and almost antique train Tkibuli–Kutaisi, running through this friendly place. Next year I will go by train to Kutaisi. Undoubtedly, that will be a wonderful entertainment. However, my secret dream is to meet New Year here. 
Dato is a real intellectual, with his own strong opinion and human values, talking  English; absolutely reliable and honest, that is such man as everybody should be… It’s a pity that I cannot find any proper words to describe his incredible neighbors: all of them as deliberately and realistically copying characters from a masterly made Georgian movie.

This is a great place to experience Georgian traditional hospitality with a traditional bakers oven and their own wine stored in the Georgian way in holes in the ground. Good BBQ area with views over the.

The landlord and host, Dato gives a very warm welcome and very knowledgable on the local attractions.

The Hostel is set in attractive scenery 12km from the main city.
