Farehau

We stayed at Fare Hau for three days at the end of a cruise on the Paul Gauguin. We were met at the ferry terminal in Papeete, and driven to the guesthouse by one of Anita's two beautiful daughters, who patiently waited while we did a little shopping in a supermarket on the way. This was necessary, as the guesthouse is perched up a mountain, with magnificent views, but well out of reach of amenities. Anita, like her daughters, is delighted. A native of the Australs, she is very artistic, with a love of sharing her treasures, and so this lovely guesthouse is a delight to the eye. We had the Moana room, which has a bathroom attached. Amenities were excellent, with free wifi, air conditioning, the use of Anita's phone, a very, very comfortable bed, and nice local toiletries in the bathroom. There is a big sitting room, a dining room, a well appointed kitchen, and a gorgeous verandah. A talking point is the huge painting on the sitting room wall. A fresh, attractive breakfast was laid out each morning -- bread, fruit, preserves, and really excellent coffee. Anita was the perfect hostess. Twice, friends called to visit, and they were made as welcome as we were.
