Air Et Vie

We were looking for a place to stay in Alsace that was not too far from the Christmas markets. As we planned this trip at the last minute, affordable accommodations were hard to come by. I found Air et Vie on Booking.com and decided to try it. If you are looking for a place with Alsacian charm, this is not the place to go. Air et Vie is almost like a Catholic retreat center located about 45 minutes outside of Strasbourg. The building is contemporary and the rooms are simple in design. Our room was a triple...a bunk bed with one single bed on top and two single beds on the bottom. There was a desk and armoire, again very simple and contemporary in design. Our room had a small bathroom with a stall shower, sink and toilet. Nothing fancy, but adequate. Our room came with sheets on the beds, but towels were extra (and we had brought our own). The beds were very comfortable with good mattresses. The room was very clean and had a nice, small balcony looking out over the countryside. Breakfast (extra charge) was very French...sliced French bread, cheese, ham, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, cereal , coffee, tea, hot chocolate, orange juice. The people we encountered during our stay were very hospitable and pleasant. I would recommend Air et Vie to someone who is looking for clean, comfortable and unpretentious accommodations in the area. It was a good place to lay our heads at the end of the day.
