ibis Styles Nice Vieux Port

Great location, only a short walk from the end of the line tram stop, which we used to get from the airport. TIP one, download the Lignes D'Azur app & buy your tram tickets in advance at home, then just tap your phone for each person when you get on. Saves a lot of time, & cheaper. If you buy at the Airport its a lot dearer. Hotel - Quick efficient check in / out. Breakfast was very nice, good choice, staff very helpful. Would be nice if the Tea / Coffee downstairs was available to say 8pm rather than 5pm but there was a water dispenser. Room was great, only gripe was noise from the bin men at night, so we kept the window shut, & used the Air Con which was fine. Perfectly located to explore Nice, especially the Old Town which is fantastic. We got the train to Monaco, good 30 min walk to the station in Nice, but just follow the Brown tram line, plenty to see on the way. TIP 2 - at the station, get your ticket from the Zou desk on the far right, very quick & no queuing at the machines. These are unreliable & lots of people were having issues. TIP 3 - avoid Mcdonalds on the Prom - complete chaos with ordering & the toilets are horrendous. You've done well if you come out with the correct order & its warm. We tried it 3 times, hoping maybe 3rd time lucky, but 3rd time was similar for just 6 nuggets !. TIP 4 - if visiting the Chateau & gardens on the hill, we walked the less severe road from the port side, which gives lovely views, and passes an amazing picturesque cemetery near the top. There are also toilets at the top, and the Ice creams are fantastic at the little shop.
