Chambres d'hôtes Gondeville

We stayed for a total of 5 nights this month. On arrival, we were very warmly welcomed by the owners Grant and Jan. The house has been beautifully restored and although we were staying in their home, we were given complete privacy on the first floor. The bedroom was large and airy and decorated to a high standard. It was very clean. The bed was as comfortable as our own at home, high praise indeed! Our large window opened out onto a vast vineyard and at night, the sky was filled with a vast array of stars. The shower was large and the water pressure great. The breakfast was lovely, fresh bread and croissants each morning, fruit, ham, cheese yoghurt - a good way to start the day. There is a room available for guests on the ground floor where you can enjoy a glass of wine. The town of Jarnac is a mere 5 minute drive, a lovely town with many restaurants, bars etc. Grant and Jan were very helpful with regards to information relating to the local area. Their recommendations for eating and out and places to see was very helpful. Considering Grant and Jan were experiencing a difficult and sad time they made us feel like part of the family and on leaving our mood was only brightened having the knowledge that we intend to return in April.
