Chateau de Rere

We were driving across the France and needed to stay for couple of days in the Loire Valley. We have planned to have a base while we were driving around and discovering local Chatteaux. By chance we have discovered the Chateau de Rere ! The location of the hotel is great for any traveling local as there are plenty of extremely beautiful Chateaux around. In the proximity of about 30 minutes to 1 hour of the amazing countryside drives there were plenty of world famous Chateaux to visit. We have also managed to drive to Versailles, about 1h 45 minutes. A very straight forward trip along an empty motorway as well - would highly recommend to add some variety to the stay. Basically, a chateau is a great location to stay in the Loire Valley. We have spent 4 nights as B&B guests. Food was good and plenty (compared to similar hotels around where we have stayed before). Rooms were very spacious (as you would expect from the old Chateau) and clean. Owners were amazing! C'mon who wouldn't mind to stay in the 500 years old Chateau run by the descendants of the Orlean nobility - who at the same time were very down to earth people who were doing anything to make our stay a remarkable adventure? The history of the place is mesmerising! The hotel ground are huge, numerous forests, lake - we truly enjoyed our evening walks. For hour we could walk trough birth, ash, oak tree forests (well managed ones, so our walks very really pleasant ones). Our daughter enjoyed swimming pool. Every evening after our Chateaux discovery morning and day trips she has managed to spend at least a good hour in the pool. A good variety of people were staying in the hotel - some needed a place to stay overnight, some came for a week's break. As I have pointed out before the grounds were huge, so not many people were bumping at each others, at the same time our daughter has managed to find some friends while playing in the pool. So, her evenings were busy - giving us free time to relax and enjoy the Chateau. Unfortunately, we have booked the place as a last leg of our European trip, so we couldn't extend the stay - the return tickets were booked in advance, however, we are certainly planning a return for the next year to spend at least a week in the beautiful and hospitable Chateau de Rere !!!!!
