Gites de Brives & Chambres d'Hotes

We highly recommend a stay at Gites de Brives. My husband, two boys (3 and 1 yr old) and I stayed for seven nights in Phil and Glyn's wonderful La Grange gite. The gite was very well equipped (even including a blender to mash up baby food), and we were also provided with a stairgate, highchair, cot and paddling pool which made it very easy with the kids. We arrived in desperate need of rest and relaxation and we got everything we needed from our stay. The gites are super quiet and dark at night, with very comfortable beds so we all slept very well. The pool was lovely and made for a very refreshing dip on a hot day. The whole site was great (and very safe) for our 3 yr old to run around in and burn off some energy. We spent a lot of time relaxing around the site but also had great trips out to La Palmyre (beautiful beach, very suitable for little children and great, safe cycle tracks) and La Rochelle (lovely harbour front, with a brilliant kids playground and a wonderful aquarium). We also did a tour of the Remy Martin site very nearby which we loved (not sure the kids were so bothered...). Phil and Glyn are fantastic hosts and were extremely helpful. They manage to strike a perfect balance between being there when you need them but not being intrusive at all!
