Chambres Dhotes Sensato

This elegant and spacious large manor house has been lovingly and extensively renovated and upgraded to meet modern comforts. Located in a small town, it is within easy distance to reach the Beaujolais wine country in the surrounding towns, as well as the lovely Lyon just a short 20-30min drive away. This Chambres d'Hotes is run by a lovely family, who caringly welcome you to stay in this wonderful home and breakfast was delightful. Building: Hidden down a small street in a small village, the automatic gates open to reveal a beautiful front garden and centuries-old manor house. Behind the home is another large garden, complete with clean modern swimming pool (the owner was working during the summer to install fashionable sail sun shades around the pool, to improve the area further). Room: We had a very very large room on the top floor. Floors in tomettes (red clay octagonal tiles; very historic in France, and feel nice and smooth and naturual under your feet; I'm a big fan). Large bed, very comfortable sleeping, and absolute quiet. TWO bathrooms in our room, each completely restored using the old stone walls and integrating modern lighting, showers, heated towel racks, mirrors, etc. A great realization of what can be done with an old stone house! Hot water and water pressure were both excellent in the shower. Breakfast: Served in their amazingly restored large spacious kitchen (a dream kitchen!), the breakfast offering was all of high quality and the host took every attention to detail to take care of his guests. (us as a couple, plus 2 families with small children) Hosts: As mentioned, the host was very attentive and takes care to deliver a good experience for his guests. Tip: The host recommended us walk a short 5min away to a small upscale italian grocery store where we had a wonderful time meeting the owner and later enjoying some great true italian food.
