Kamisak Husky and Horse Farm

I had been worried about this company as booked independently from the UK many weeks befor travel and yet they were poor in replying to emails and I had worried they were unreliable. However, I did not want a "package" trip with lots of other tourists on a bus. In the event, I stuck with my gut and prayed they'd turn up at the arranged time. They did . 20 minutes in a taxi north of Saariselka, we arrived at Kamisak, so Un-touristy it was great! A quick 5 minute lesson on how to drive a sledge and then introduction to our husky teams. My husband and I had our two sons ages 10 and 7 in our sledges and my 80 year old mother was in a third sledge driven by one of the professional "mushers" . All three sledge riders got very cold and the ride was very hard for my mother. I would recommend hand and foot warmers for all passengers ( and we travelled on a "warm" day, only -5, but both children freezing by the end) and serious cushioning for older passengers. The sledges have no suspension and the terrain is very bumpy! For the drivers....oh my gosh I cried it was so amazing! We had to work hard helping the huskies pull the sledges up the hills and throw our weight sideways on the turns....both of our sledges(with our children in) tipped over, but they survived just fine. The scenery was amazing through the forest, and we were blessed with a clear, rose tinted sky "day". Afterwards we had delicious cloudberry juice and fish soup ( so good my kids had 2 helpings) in the front room of the house and then we got cuddles with the tiny husky puppies. This company were marvellous in that it was just our family on the trip. - nobody else came to flaw a perfect experience. My husband and I plan a 4 day trip with them again in the future.
