After a lengthy what-where and so on, we decided to have a family get-together at Seurahuone. Minuses first (very few): some pieces of furniture may be a bit outdated. Same with the lift - but it works. It was very easy to make arrangements with the friendly staff, via email, phone, or on the spot. With our group (16 persons), we had a decent dinner (salmon soup etc.), and afterwards, we had the real thing at the private location for 300€ (all night). They (the hotel staff) were all very nice and helpful, I don't think it could have been much better. If you're looking for a five star hotel, do not bother. But if you're looking for a place to relax in the heart of Kokkola, you definitely should consider Seurahuone! They say the hotel hosts a female ghost; we didn't meet her (this time...)
