Beana Laponia

This hotel is a real retreat whilst also being a place for adventures and lovely food! We went there primarily for dog sledding with huskies but also had some wonderful walks in totally deserted and unspoilt wilderness cross frozen river and lakes. The food is exceptional and they are happy to adapt the menu if you really don’t want to eat something. The staff are all delightful and friendly and it feels like a real team working together. It isn’t cheap at all so a real treat for a few days only for us! The husky sled guides were excellent and really cared about the dogs and the huskies were such individual characters.

Boutique style lodge/hotel near Meltaus. Lovely renovation creating a luxury feel whilst allowing one to sample the brilliant activities of a Finnish winter.
The rooms are a reasonable size and nicely equipped/fitted. Comfortable and large beds, good sized ensuite and facilities. Bathroom toiletries were good quality.  Double shower provided.  We didn't opt for the inroom sauna as we thought the price differential too much to justify (now possibly regretting that).
There is a small bar/lounge area which is very comfortable and a small restaurant.  Only a set menu is served each day for dinner with a non-veg and veg option. So food may be a little restrictive.  We enjoyed much, but not all the food.  I guess tastes differ. The staff however were lovely.
Wine/drinks were not unreasonable (for Scandinavia). Breakfasts were very good with cold buffet/fruit and at-table hot food options. 
The activities were fantastic, if expensive.  The 'full day' husky and snowmobiling experiences were super, led by excellent guides. By virtue of being a smaller hotel, these experiences are likely to be very small groups.  Equipment provided with the activities was reasonable and certainly helps protect your own clothes. They probably could do with replacing the mittens however.
Walking around the hotel is also excellent.  Less than half a mile away is a cafe in Meltaus (across the frozen river) and can be an alternative for coffee/lunch at the hotel.
Woodland walks in the snow were stunning.
Aurora is framed beautifully there. We were lucky one night that the sky was filled above us. I guess that locals become blasé about it, but for us it was stunning.
My only negative was the cost of the visit to the Snow Hotel/Ice bar for dinner. A bit of goggling showed that we could potentially have saved a great deal of cash by booking directly ourselves.  (but save more money by visiting the snow hotel for a drink and not dinner - it's really not worth it).
Overall we loved BL and would recommend it for shorter breaks.

My partner and I had the most amazing 5 day break at this hotel at the end of March, from the moment we arrived until the moment we left the experience was fantastic, the staff were extremely professional and friendly and the food was sensational! The activities and the guides were also great, nice small groups mean it’s a really personal experience - we had such a wonderful time snow mobiling and on the husky safari. The location is beautiful! We were also so lucky to see the northern lights in all their glory just outside the hotel. The staff are great, they were kind enough to let us know when we were eating dinner that the lights had appeared! We really recommend this hotel, and will definitely be back in the future!

My friends and I have just returned from a 4 night stay at Beana Laponia and we absolutely loved every minute! The staff are extremely welcoming and friendly, the rooms are superb (there were 3 of us so we had the junior suite which has its own sauna) and the food is amazing. The hotel provide all the outdoor gear you need, from boots and socks to snowsuits and mittens - they've thought of everything! There's a cosy bar where you can relax with a coffee or drink, and we booked the outdoor hot tub which was fabulous and included the private use of the sauna and indoor hot tub. Our experience included a dog sledding trip, a visit to a reindeer farm, a snowshoe walk and a snowmobiling trip which were all amazing. It was truly a magical experience and we hope to return one day.

Stayed at Beana Laponia for one night and it was all worth it! Lovely decorated rooms, with aspect of luxury. Warm and cozy lobbybar, excellent breakfast. Staff was more than welcoming and the athmosphere was warm and peaceful. 
We highly recommend this place, its worth to visit!

What an amazing little place. Everything is perfect with so much attention to detail. We stayed three nights and loved the authentic feel with the freedom to roam around the property and easily find our own adventure (sledding down a hill in the forest, walking across the frozen lake to the nearby village) but also had an extensive choice of activities on offer, too. We loved the husky ride and the snowmobiles (we stopped to see the reindeer in the forest). Also did the spa/outdoor hot tub. I recommend it all.

Room was really nice, food was delicious and the staff were always friendly and helpful.

I stumbled across Beana Laponia’s impressive five stars on trip advisor, got intrigued, and ended up choosing to stay with them based off of their top notch reviews. Their reputation is well deserved. 

Off the beaten path, you get an authentic Lapland experience that is personalized and without the gaggle of surrounding tourists. Agree with all reviews Laponia day is a MUST. Don’t worry, they supply all the winter gear you need down to the socks (we would know as our airline lost our luggage) and no experience or athletic ability is necessary. 

The Secret of the Reindeer was our other highlight experience. Irene and her husband are like ambassadors, we walked away feeling so much more connected to Lapland, its history, and its people. Later on our trip, a local guide at Arctic SnowHotel commented on how he thought Secret of the Reindeer was the second best experience you could do while visiting Lapland. It’s that meaningful. 

You get more than what you pay for here. We will be coming back!

If you are looking for a superbe break of everyday crazy life, there is no place better or more relaxing to go.
The scenery is stunning, the whole staff is warm and friendly, the hotel is better than you can image.
And don't even get me started of the food the chef presents every day. Plain and simple magic!

Best holiday ever! 

My friend and I stayed here as part of a tour that we booked - though you can tell this was geared more towards couples, we will had a fantastic time here!

It was a very boutique place (limited rooms) which meant that we received a much more personalised service and we definitely felt very welcome throughout our stay.

The rooms was great as well - there was a double door, so it reduces the noise from outside, the bed were super comfortable and the bathroom was quite spacious. We had some complimentary drinks and we were given some outdoor clothes and boots which we can use anytime throughout our stay,

We also had the opportunity to use the jacuzzi and sauna one night (private booking), and the staff were really great as they interrupted us towards the end to let us know that there was a prediction of Northern lights in a few minutes! So we rushed back to wear our gear and headed out to see the show! :)

We did a lot of the activities - dog sledding, snow mobiling, free toboggan and free walking trails. 

The food was outstanding as well! It was a modern take on the Finnish food and we loved every meal!

We stayed at the Glass Igloo after this but we both agreed that our stayed at Beana Laponia was far better! Compliments to both the staff and the chef. Would love to stay here again!

We only spent 1 night at this fabulous lodge but wished it was more.
The room was incredible - it was the lowest price room they had but there were still plenty of special touches. It was roomy and the bathroom was spacious - all of the towels and linen were good quality. It contained everything we needed & we had a great sleep!
The breakfast was wonderful - plenty of choice & everything was lovely & fresh. 
The dinner was also quite nice but as it was a set menu my only comment would be that the offer of an alternate meal for us fussy eaters would have been appreciated.
We went out in the evening for a husky safari which was incredible. No northern lights but the gorgeous huskies, their amazing enthusiasm, the knowledgeable guide, the exciting ride through the dark snowy wilderness was more than enough. It was pricey but worth it. One thing that was very odd though was that we had to provide a deposit to use the lodges headlamps. Considering that the room, the dinner & the safari were all quite expensive I actually found this a little bit insulting. 
My only other suggestion if you are visiting would be that if you are anything other than an average size make sure you take your own snow gear as the options available from the lodge are very limited. 
The staff were lovely and went out of their way to assist when we had an issue with our hire car. Also prior to our stay, all emails and questions were answered promptly.

This is a beautiful, family run lodge for adults only. They literally couldn’t have done for us during our stay. They will organise all of your trips for you, many of which can be done directly from site. They are also really flexible if you need to change any of your plans. There’s a cosy lounge area to relax in during the evenings and the onsite kitchen is excellent. The tour guides are friendly and knowledgeable and most importantly know how to look after the sledge dogs properly. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect experience and will definitely be coming back one day.
