Hi Skopje Hostel

Summary 📚 I slept 4 nights in total, 2 during my start of visiting Macedonia and 2 during the end. I visited during the end of July, where temperatures as hot. Visited alone with a backpack. Location 🗺 The hostel is located outside of the city, 15 minutes from the vantage point for the hiking trail. If you want to reach the city, you need to be prepared to walk 20 minutes downhill. Tip: walk to Diamond Mall and cross the mall for a shortcut. To the busstation it is a 30min walk (with backpack 50L). But in general is really quite and serene, which I think I prefer instead of a “partyhostel”. I would say perfect for backpackers who are willing to walk a bit. 4/5. Facilities 🛁 The hostel has basic facilities as any other hostel, kitchen, multiple toilets and showers, communal rooms inside and outside. The garden is wonderful! Also the living room is spaceous and contains television, computer, radio etc. In general a great place to hang out. The garden is the best part, there is so much space to hang out. Furthermore, you will get accompanied with a wonderful dog (Gold Retriever I think). 5/5. Beds 🛏 Beds are OK (not super but not bad), they are bunkbeds with curtains for standard privacy. Every bed is equipped with electricity socket and a lamp. Not every room has airconditioning, the ones with airconditioning have the mobile one (lousy one). To be honest, I stayed there during summer (37-39 degrees) and I don’t think A/C is necessary during the night as temperature drops because of the elevated location. At least there is ventilation. Lastly lockers are available. 4/5. Hygiene 🧽 Hygiene is top. Very clean, everything is maintained well. I don’t have any comments regarding this. 5/5. Staffing 👫 Staffing is super friendly and helpful. I was offered a ride from airport to hostel upon request (€25). Dragan drove me and he was very nice and friendly. Marina and husband (I think, please correct me I forgot your name, shame!). Were helpful and friendly, everyone knew a lot about the city and the things to do. One cannot ask for more. 5/5. For who is this Hostel? * Backpacker or traveller who want to use hostel to rest and hang out (garden is really great!) * If you like quiet places * Don’t mind a walk to the city centre * If you love dogs to hug and a dog who prevents you from leaving Skopje by napping in front of the door Who should avoid this hostel? * If you want to party * If you hate walking (or are unable to) * If you want to meet people, you have to show your own initiative, there are no organized gatherings * If you are scared of dogs, although no one should be scared of this particular dog Conclusion A perfect hostel for me. I would book again when I return to Skopje (and I will, based on my future plans!). Based on the aggregate score I would say 9,2 and this is well deserved!
