Hotel Savoy Sharm

We’ve been to many different hotels in Sharm el Sheikh over the years and this is definitely near the top of our list. The rooms are spacious and the whole complex is spotlessly clean and well looked after. Such an excellent location, only 10 minutes in a cab from the airport, and right in Soho Square, which has lots of bars, restaurants and shops. By day, we used the top swimming pool, which is huge so you don’t feel crammed in. We were there in November, so this may change as the hotel gets busier. We were by the pool at 8 am most mornings and many people still find the need to put their towels out to ‘reserve’ their sun beds. There really is no need-there’s plenty to go around, whatever time of day. The beach on the other hand was so busy. Such a shame as we love the beach but didn’t use it as everyone was on top of each other. The best beach we’ve been to in Sharm is at Sensatori hotel in Coral sea. The temperature was 30/32 degrees every day and didn’t get much cooler at night. The restaurants are absolutely amazing. We were ‘E class’ in the hotel which gave us a choice of 9 a la carte restaurants, as well as the buffet restaurant(4 of which were in Soho Square), which we weren’t limited on, and also 7 items of Complimentary laundry service each. Italian. Nice big varied menu Greek Down by the beach. Very relaxed. Delicious food, although everything comes with fries! Hot Stone Men need to wear long trousers in this restaurant. Huge portion size. Mushroom strudel was gorgeous but just too much of it for a starter. Wouldn’t rush to go back there. Although the restaurant looked lovely, I just didn’t like going out for dinner, cooking it yourself, and going away smelling of a greasy kitchen. The 4 restaurants in SoHo Square that are included, are all in the same room. Nothing authentic about the setting. The food from the Thai and Chinese menus was absolutely gorgeous (again, huge portion sizes) but we found the Indian far too oily for us. It’s good that in all the bars and restaurants that the soft drinks and mixers are all cans and bottles, rather than cheap local, from the pump. Good frappes and cocktails by the pool. Everything is booked by the app which they like you to download on arrival. Booking for the restaurants becomes available from midnight, so if you can’t find the availability you’re wanting, try just after midnight! All of the staff we had contact with, were polite, professional and friendly. So many to mention, from the man that cooked my omelettes every morning, the life guards/pool boys, bar staff, maintenance, the list is endless, but if I had to choose one, it would be Rasha in the main restaurant. She was smiling and welcoming every morning and nothing is too much trouble for her. A credit to your company. Look after her Savoy, Sharm el Sheik. We’d like to see her again next year.
