El Hogar de Chocolate

This is one great facility in Baños. Baños is one of the most favorite tourist destinations in Ecuador. There are countless number of touristic facilities. Most are low budget establishments. El Hogar de Chocolate is one of the few exceptions. Despite its very high quality, it is very reasonably priced, unlike the other main competitor in the area. The place is owned and managed by a lovely Ecuadorian woman. She deals with every detail. She meets you as you arrive at the parking lot, handles check-in procedures, accompanies you to your room and explains all, gives room options if possible, even fixes a faulty toilet. Unbelievable energy, knowledge, and motivation to do a good job. Other staff also are extremely friendly and capable. The rooms are spacious and clean. Functional and nice looking furniture. Bathroom is large and comfortable. They have an ice and beverage fridge at the entrance and everything in it is gratis, including a good selection of Ecuadorian beer:)). Upon check-in the owner manager gives a detailed and customized review of activities around Baños. Some activities are within the premises (waterfalls, walking paths, etc.). Boots and sticks are supplied gratis. This is one good experience. The only recommendation I have is about live music at breakfast. It may be a local custom yet I believe live Latin music at 8:00 in the morning is not appropriate. Just a small suggestion. Thanks for all.
