Urcu de Mindo Lodge

Our hosts, Maria and Freddy were the most hospitable and welcoming hosts we've had in Ecuador. We arrived late, 10:00, but we were graciously received with the traditional canelazo cocktail followed by a delicious dinner. Maria accommodated my daughter's request for vegetarian meals, even though we hadn't arranged it ahead of time. Her cooking is outstanding and every meal was unique and delicious (we took three meals each day.) It should be noted that they are in a different location now just outside of the main part of town. Initially we were very disappointed because we specifically chose Urcu because it was remote from the town. But the new location is more convenient for activities and the setting is nice with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. We quickly got over our disappointment! We were in a 2 bedroom bungalow with three double beds, which were very comfortable, and a lovely little deck where we watched birds. There was plenty of hot water and Maria and Freddy were always available for any questions we had. The pool was the perfect temperature and impeccably clean, as was everywhere else in the lodge. I highly recommend Urcu!!
