Residential El Dorado Punta Cana

Check in was a little long, but the resort is well staffed with lots of super friendly and helpful people. A special shout out to the entertainment staff of Ricardo (Chupi, Chupi), JZ, Jefferson, Perla and Melvin who were the heartbeat of the resort, keeping patrons of all ages involved in a wide array of fun activities on the beach such as volleyball, darts, ring toss, bocce, beach Olympics, aerobics, dancing, yoga, Spanish lessons, etc, etc. I have never been to a resort where there was anything close to this presented by such a warm, fun and engaging group of people. There was nightly themed entertainment such as a Michael Jackson show, a magic show and a circus show to name a few that were very well done. In addition to this, you got great food and drink service in the open air areas around the pools and out on the beach. The buffet was open for breakfast, lunch and dinner presenting a very wide variety of foods, some I recognized and some I didn't, but always plenty to go around and not too bad either. There was a pretty good presence of security throughout the resort and they were very good a keeping non-patrons and peddlers off the grounds and property beach areas. The rooms themselves were fairly spacious and clean. Ours had a nice kitchen area and everything worked in our unit, but we did find a few patrons that had problems with their toilet or microwave when they first arrived, but these problems were remedied by the 2nd day according to what they told us. We never had any problems with any other patrons and met lots of nice, friendly people that made this trip special. We also booked a few excursions that took us off-site (Saona Island and Macao Beach and Cave). They were well worth the trip but exposed us to lots of peddlers, so take that in consideration when you go off the resort. Overall I have to give this resort the highest rating as I think we got a lot of bang for our buck: good value, decent rooms, lots of food and drink, exceptional service, lots of resort sponsored fun if you wanted to be involved and nice, quiet spaces if you didn't.
