My wife and I stayed here for a couple of nights and would wholeheartedly recommend Det Lille Sommerhotel. The location is great, the rooms are lovely, the beds really comfortable, the shower is spot on, breakfast is great, the hosts are very welcoming.  

Samsø is wonderful for a relaxing getaway and Ballen is a special little place - very friendly, relaxed and with lots of places to eat and drink. 

There are 2 places for bike hire less than 5 minutes walk away - one for electric bikes and one for normal. We went for normal bikes and spent a day sightseeing by bike.

I have been to Det Lille Sommerhotel several times, alone and with my company, where I have brought guests. It has been a fantastic experience every time. I travel with my company; they have been very open to us and helped us have a pleasant time in Samsø. I highly recommend this cozy and heartwarming hotel, with great owners that are easy to work with. 

Clean rooms, bright rooms, great food, and clean toilets.   

I can highly recommend it for both a family trip and a business trip.  


This is an unforgettable place once you have been there you wish you did not have to leave. Very comfortable in the summer city of Ballen at the Island of Samsoe. Take the ferry from Zealand (2 hours) or Jutland (1 hour) and you are very relaxed when you arrive. Then you are fit for relaxed friendly and personal service. Don't miss - your will never forget. Keep up the standard.

This property has one main building then additional rooms next door which is where we stayed. Recently redone, everything is fresh and clean. It's finished in typical white but with whimsical touches that make you smile. The rooms are fairly small but bathrooms are fine. There were bikes on the property to rent. Although it's on the highway, it gets very quiet in this small town after the dinner hour. Ask for a room off the street if you are concerned. Gardens are very nice. You can walk anywhere in this village from here, except maybe the Energy Institute.
The best part about the hotel is the food. The breakfast was an amazing. We had dinner the evening before and it was gourmet. The owners are delightful.
