Zámek Jemniště

We really loved this place-- there are only 4 apartments, each sumptuously equipped in old world elegance. We had a huge bedroom with a canopied bed, nice living room with a fireplace, and a large, well equipped bathroom. There is a very nice cafe and a good restaurant-- all elegant and very inviting. The service, which is very polite with some English spoken was uneven-- we had to ask for coffee and tea with our breakfast several times until we got it, and the coffee maker in our room was broken and required, again, repeated requests for a replacement. There is a small park attached to the chateau, full of benches, and they provide blankets and pillows to make your stay in the park more enjoyable. We took a guided tour of the fascinating chateau (part of which is occupied by the current owner), which was built in 1725, and our guide, Barbara, was super nice and knowledgeable. She even poured us champaign to sip during the tour. We got a picnic basket for lunch, which was very nicely arranged. It is rather expensive (they charged us for tap water and for cutlery!), but we still enjoyed it enormously and shall probably return for festive occasions.
