This is my 15th vacation at Mayanabo, I'm welcomed like family, the staff is the best anywhere and I have many friends at the hotel,staff and service for me are five star,the food is excellent, good variety you will always find something delicious to eat, I'm returning at end of January

This was my 6th time in Santa Lucia, but my second time at Mayanabo. The animation staff and all of the wait staff make it seem like coming home. You meet a lot of repeat guests and the staff remember you from when you were there the last time. The food is good, the rooms are clean, the beach is beautiful. Can't wait to go back!

The hotel is not 5 star. If you’re looking for luxury and rich extras, this is not your place.
We love Mayanabo because of the warmth and friendliness of its staff. The hotel is very clean and your well being is uppermost in their staff minds.
We go there twice a year, every year. We find this hotel, a home away from home.
The beaches are clean and span 4 large hotels.
If you appreciate finding places where you can be alone, read or just daydream, there are many of those. Various activities are also organized for those who like it.

Second time at Mayanabo it was amazing . Love the service especially Daily ( she’s awesome) . Snack Bar crew Danier , Giovanni , Roberto , Martha , & Yaniel  are amazing. Animacion crews once again they did a fantastic job ... way to go Eric , Henry & Jesse !!! Keep up the good work..

Positives:
Mayanabo continues to make improvements. When I think back to our first visit in 1995 to now, it is leaps and bounds better. 
The staff are friendly as always, they do a great job. From the front desk to housekeeping, dining room, bar, coffee bar, beach restaurant and bar, beach staff and of course animation. The gardens are well tended and the grounds spic and span. Hats off to the ground keeping crew. If there is an issue with your room, maintenance will gladly try to help. Let's not forget Angela the masseuse, many of our friends can't wait to book a relaxing massage with her.
The beach is still a beautiful place where you can walk from resort to resort and further. Sometimes the tractor hasn't been out to clean up the washed up seaweed but it gets done. 
The coffee bar is a favourite place of many to relax or have a light lunch or snack. They work hard too and always a smile. The cappuccinos are good. You can have a liqueur in it and they also arrive with cinnamon or chocolate to sprinkle on top. The churro bar is close by as well.
Our room was comfy and clean and the AC worked good.
Management is great. 

Negative:
We were aware when we booked about the long trip from Holguin to Playa Santa Lucia. The flights were not going into Camaguey which is about a 90 min drive by bus. From Holguin  it is approx 3.5 hours with a stop in Las Tunas for a potty break and you can buy a drink there. The road is paved for part of it but there is a also a rather long stretch that is dirt and full of huge potholes. Either way you do get there and we were aware. Hopefully the flights to Camaguey will resume at some point. By the way we flew out of Toronto.

We look forward to going back, Mayanabo is our cottage, a place of relaxation and friends where you don't have to do anything or you can keep busy with all the things available to you. We have introduced many people to Mayanabo over the years and they too are regulars now !!! We will keep bringing people to Mayanabo.

This hotel always makes me feel like I belong.  Great employees. Helpful. Courteous.  The rooms are basic, it is ,after all a 2.5 star rated hotel, but to me it is 5 STARS. Depending on the time or season, food is lacking as far as quantity, but it is always good. Everything is clean. Beach is a short walk down a path but close enough. Lots of free stuff to do. I rarely leave the hotel since I am there to relax. If you are a FOODY, this place is not for you. If you love warm hearted, lovely people, I highly recommend this place. I have been here around fourty times in the past 15 years.

I had the opportunity to enjoy a few days of vacation in this hotel where I really get the best impression. A quality service with very professional workers and excellent treatment. A hotel that despite being structurally old is very comfortable and has comfortable rooms all very at hand, exquisite food and to say the wonderful beach that accompanies it.

This has got to be one of the best places we have ever visited. The grounds are immaculate, the food is wonderful and the accommodations are wonderful. You will not be disappointed . We will definitely not be disappointed.

Cuba 2019

First we had to make a horrendous 4 hour bus ride because the plane landed in Holguin instead of camegeauy.This put us at the resort 5 hours late,which also took away our last day later departure another 5 hours.Concequently instead of having 8 days vacation we had 6.The breakfast was not very organized ,they didn't even have a toaster nor a regular  serving of any bacon.The other meals were fine ,and the restaurants service was ok.This place needs a lot of easy fixes.

Disappointed

Really run down. Front desk staff so very unfriendly. Rooms not great for sure. Food substandard. Oh, but you do get food poisoning and loose 4 days of your vacation at no extra cost. No help or apology from the hotel management or the travel agency.
The female doctor was fabulous, professional, and so caring. 
The entire complex needs a complete over haul and updates every where.
Adios to this place for sure.
