Palacio San Miguel Boutique

We spent 4 nights in the San Miguel, three nights before touring other parts of Cuba and one on return. It’s a charming hotel, historic and classic. If you enjoy classical design, high ceilings, and quaintness this is the place. Our room at the front had a mini balcony with a great view overlooking a wide expanse of water and the fortress. We had a good mini bar which was inexpensive, air conditioning, and very comfortable beds. We found it clean and the towels were changed daily. The hotel is very well situated, a short walk from the cathedral and close to all parts of Habana Vieja. The breakfast was basic but good – three fruits followed by eggs of your choice and breads (which seems to be the standard fare in Cuba) There is wifi in the hotel – signal is strongest in the communal areas. You can buy a wifi card in reception although they’re cheaper at the Etecsa offices on Obispo if you’re willing to queue. The roof terrace area is lovely – fantastic views and good for a sundowner mojito. We found the staff charming, pleasant and friendly – willing to help and give good service. If we ever go back to Havana we would be happy to stay here again.
