2 reviewsFormerly known as Yuedong Hotel, this is renamed to Emperors Palace Hotel. We chose a room with twin beds which costed slightly more than a room with a single 1.2m bed being too small for a couple. Although it is carpeted and clean, I would consider this as 3-star hotel for RMB240 per night. There is no in-room safe and refrigerator. Breakfast was provided and 2 bottles of mineral water given daily. In Shantou, basically only 5-star hotels provide soft beds. We love this hotel's location in Changping Road where you can find lots of local food stalls on the left, right and back of the hotel, all within walking distance. The food outside was too delicious and we skipped the free hotel breakfast. There are at least 3 big markets selling fresh produce nearby and it was good to get a feel of the local market place. The front desk are manned by locals so you need to know a little Chinese to communicate.
