11 reviewsIt is not difficult to find architecture that echoes Art Deco flavour in Shanghai but this fine building, originally the Cathay Hotel opened in 1929, was immaculately restored to its glory almost 10 years ago. The sumptuous lobby and ground floor open to public access are full of beautiful and original Art Deco elements. You would want to see the lifts as well... Of course their famous English pub with a jazz band is still there albeit not so much like the original band. However, from time to time they throw in a few rag time pieces for old times sake. If you love Art Deco, you will find the place precious.
