As we all know, Shanghai City is HUGE - 26 million population. With over 3,800 people per square kilometer, it is also very busy ! The main tourist Hotels tend to be clustered around the Bund area facing Pudong. We opted for the "suburbs" - about 35 minutes by Taxi from this area - depending on traffic. The Guhua Garden Hotel is a big one and has an excellent Restaurant with an amazing selection of live fish in a tank room, a very interesting Wine shop and the bedrooms are excellent. While WiFi is available in all rooms, the upload speed is at snail's pace. There is also a selection of nearby local restaurants. If you decide to go for a walk or taxi ride, make sure you get the name of your Hotel written on a piece of paper in Chinese or you may never find your way back again. I have stayed in this Hotel three times and enjoyed it each time.
