Like (I assume) everyone else here, our China Eastern connection was broken by China Eastern so we had a complimentary 24 hour stay at this hotel.

Transport was a tiny and old shuttle bus to the hotel from the transfer desk in SVG, which is on the other side of the wall from carousel 7 in the China Eastern terminal. The shuttle waited until everyone arrived so it was over an hour of waiting in the terminal and the shuttle before we rolled out of the airport. Everyone on the shuttle was pretty cranky at that point.

The hotel is located roughly 1/3 of the way between the airport and downtown in a grubby and busy mixed light industrial and box store neighborhood. The hotel is tucked behind what I think is a restaurant and has a small convenience store (selling snacks, bottled coffee, booze, etc) at its driveway on the main arterial road.

As everyone has noted the beds are old-school Chinese business hotel hard, like concrete hard. Don't jump onto the bed or you'll catch a pretty good bruise. The bathroom walls are mostly frosted glass, so your roomie should avert their gaze if they don't want to see you doing your business.

We turned up pretty late, and were super hungry by 4am when we woke up with jet lag.  Three hours later a big, fresh and free Chinese buffet was available for breakfast. No coffee was served but otherwise the breakfast got 5 stars from everyone in my group.

The front desk people, who were really nice though a lot of their customers were a bit frazzled, booked us a taxi for the 40 minute drive into town (110RMB), and we spent the morning doing the tourist thing on the Bund, etc.

Checkout was whenever it was time to get back to the airport for the connection, which was 3pm for us, so we also scored a free buffet lunch too.

Cons: hard beds, funky bathrooms, worn carpet, zero non-Chinese channels on the TV, terrible location, poor free WiFi (behind The Great Firewall of course).

Pros: friendly staff, good food, currency exchange, "cultural experience" of seeing the Shanghai 'burbs.

Uneven experience but mostly positive

I was put in the place due to Air China transfer flight cancellation in June 2017. It was terrible after a long flight. I was asked to find a person to share a room due to their agreement with airlines. I paid myself in order to have a room my own.  Although it calls itself a Hotel I think it is worse than some Motels. It was humid I tried to open air-conditioner and I didn't figure out how until I was woken up by Mosquitoes. The front desk was terribly busy, understaffed.

cancelled connection flight

Like all the TA users here, we came to this hotel because of a cancelled China eastern flight. It was not an airport hotel , as per what the airline personnel said. It was so far away from the airport that at one point, we thought we were kidnapped!

Digusting room - dirty floor, bed, table....and the bathroom was so gross. 

If your flight is only a few hours delay, please choose the option of waiting it out in the airport than coming to this hotel.

Worst hotel ever

So we were trying to get from Singapore to Kyoto, via China Eastern... Due to delays, we got stuck in Shanghai, and we put up at this hotel for the night. 

I'm only giving them 1 star because it was "free" (other than my lost night at another hotel in the city I actually wanted to be in) and the AC worked. Those are the two pros. 

The cons are that it was dirty and poorly maintained. The carpet in the hallways is nasty and loose, causing a tripping hazard. The building in general is in poor shape. The room was dirty, there was loose dirt and trash on the floor. The bathroom was dirty. The bed felt like a box spring with a sheet on it... which did wonders for my sciatica... let me tell you! I hope to never experience this place again. 

Stuck here due to Chinese ATC

I got to this hotel because of a delay with China eastern airlines. I don’t think this hotel deserve any stars. I would have given them -3 stars. The food was horrible. It felt like we were prison inmates. The room was dirty full of dust. If I knew I would have stay in the airport..
