Home Inn Shanghai Lujiazui Dongfang Road

I stayed in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Beijing, Xi’an, Guangzhou and Zhuhai. Of all of the hotels this is my favorite. This Home Inn accepts VISA card although many Chinese hotels require payment in cash, even some large chains. Certain members of the staff speak English although I tried to use Chinese which is their language. All of the staff were friendly. The room was clean, of adequate size and a good price. The water pressure in the shower was great. The heater worked well. This is extremely important in winter. There were lots of TV channels and the Wi-Fi worked well. I had an eighth floor room and had a nice view. The hotel is setback from the busy street so the rooms are quiet. It is wonderful to enter the warm lobby after a day outside in the cold. I wish they would close the windows in the hallways so the hallways are not cold. The hotel is in Pudong about 0.5 km from the Pudian Metro Station. Watch out for scooters which also use the extra wide sidewalk. Several restaurants and a supermarket are located in the Pudian Metro Station. There is a large park across Dongfang Road. Using the metro one can get to almost any place in Shanghai. This hotel is definitely on Dongfang Road. One of the websites shows this hotel on Century Blvd. The bed is hard, but this is consistent with most of China. After two weeks one gets used to it. Like much of China it is relatively safe to walk late at night. Write the hotel name in Chinese or have it available. This is important when getting directions. Generally, the people will help you if they can.
