싼야는 한국인에게는 아직 낯선 여행지입니다. 무엇보다 언어의 장벽이 있어 망설여지는 곳이기도 하죠. 저 역시 그런 고민이 있었지만, 이번 여행에서 반얀트리 싼야는 그런 우려를 대부분 없애주었습니다. 저는 메리어트와 아코르 모두 플래티넘 티어라 선택지가 꽤 많았습니다. JW 메리어트, 래플스, 반얀트리 중 고민하다가 ‘프라이빗한 풀빌라’라는 조건에서 반얀트리를 선택하게 되었죠. 가격은 JW에 비해 거의 두 배라 걱정도 되었지만, 결과적으로는 매우 만족스러운 선택이었습니다. 🏡 하드웨어: 엔티크한 분위기와 완벽한 프라이버시 풀빌라 반얀트리의 가장 큰 장점은 하드웨어입니다. 몇몇 후기에선 “시설이 낡았다”고 하지만, 실제로는 관리가 잘 되어 있었고 오히려 엔틱하고 클래식한 분위기가 인상 깊었습니다. 특히 전용 수영장이 딸린 빌라에서의 프라이버시는 마치 몰디브 리조트에 와 있는 듯한 느낌을 줍니다. 호텔에서 조금만 나가면 있는 대동해 바다의 에메랄드빛도 너무 아름다웠습니다. 다만, 모기는 꽤 있었기 때문에 이에 대한 대비는 필요합니다. 💬 커뮤니케이션: 걱정보다 훨씬 원활했던 소통 가장 걱정했던 부분이 언어 소통이었는데, 생각보다 문제없이 해결되었습니다. 출발 전에 Katrina Sun과 메일로 연락하면서 방 배정, 아기 침대, 애프터눈 티 예약 등을 사전 조율할 수 있었고, 현지에서도 Mia라는 직원이 체크인부터 체크아웃까지 WeChat을 통해 마치 버틀러처럼 세심하게 응대해주었습니다. 서로 완벽한 소통은 아니었지만, 정성 어린 대응 덕분에 불편함은 거의 없었습니다. 대부분의 투숙객이 중국인이기 때문에 외국인으로서의 불편함을 줄여주는이런 노력에 매우 감사하게 생각합니다. 이런 부분은 앞으로도 반영하면 어떨까 싶네요 🍽️ F&B: 아쉬움이 남는 부분 아쉽게도 F&B는 다소 평범했습니다. 조식이나 애프터눈 티 모두 ‘괜찮은 수준’이긴 했지만, 세계적인 수준의 럭셔리 호텔과 비교했을 때는 확실히 조금은 부족한 느낌이었습니다. 이 부분은 개선 여지가 있다고 생각합니다. 총평 조용한 휴식을 원하거나 프라이버시가 중요한 분들께 강력히 추천할 수 있는 곳입니다. • 아이를 동반한 가족 • 프라이빗한 휴식을 원하는 커플 • 지친 직장인이나 사업가의 힐링 휴가 이런 분들께 특히 추천드리고 싶습니다. Sanya is still a relatively unfamiliar destination for many Koreans. One of the main reasons is the language barrier, which can make travelers hesitant. I had the same concern before this trip, but Banyan Tree Sanya turned out to be a pleasant surprise that addressed most of those worries. As a Platinum member of both Marriott and Accor, I had many options to choose from. I considered JW Marriott, Raffles, and Banyan Tree, and ultimately chose Banyan Tree for its private pool villa concept. The price was nearly double that of JW Marriott, so I had some hesitation, but in the end, it was a very satisfying choice. ⸻ 🏡 Hardware: Antique Charm & Perfect Privacy in a Pool Villa The hotel’s strongest point is definitely its hardware. Some reviews mentioned that the facilities felt a bit aged, but I found the property to be well-maintained, with an antique and classic charm that added to the experience. The private pool villa offered a level of seclusion that reminded me of resorts in the Maldives. Although you can’t see the ocean from the room, a short walk takes you to the resort’s private beach, where the emerald waters of the South China Sea are absolutely stunning. One thing to note: there were quite a few mosquitoes, so it’s good to be prepared, especially if you’re traveling with children. ⸻ 💬 Communication: Better Than Expected My biggest concern before the trip was communication. Thankfully, it turned out to be smoother than expected. I was able to coordinate everything in advance—room preferences, baby crib setup, and afternoon tea reservations—via email with Katrina Sun. Upon arrival, Mia helped us with the check-in and continued to assist us throughout our stay using WeChat, almost like a private butler. Although our communication wasn’t perfect, the staff’s sincere and thoughtful service made all the difference. Most guests at the resort are Chinese, so it’s easy for foreign travelers to feel a bit isolated. That’s why I truly appreciated the extra effort made through WeChat. I hope the hotel continues to strengthen this kind of service in the future. ⸻ 🍽️ F&B: Room for Improvement The food and beverage offerings were a bit underwhelming. The breakfast and afternoon tea were decent, but not quite on par with what you might expect from a top-tier luxury hotel on a global scale. I believe there’s room for improvement in this area. ⸻ Overall Impression Banyan Tree Sanya is highly recommended for those seeking quiet relaxation and complete privacy. In particular, it’s a great fit for: • Families with young children • Couples looking for a private getaway • Busy professionals or businesspeople in need of a healing retreat If you’re looking to truly unwind and escape from daily life in a peaceful, natural setting, this resort delivers exactly that.
