Dongda Holiday Hotel

I stayed here for one night, booked by tour guide friend. After the bad experience the night before in Baotou, this hotel in Dalat was a relief. Actually not far away from Baotou, so do not know why it is categorized in Tripadvisor as “hotel in Ordos”. This hotel is a good and cost-effective alternative for staying in a hotel near Baotou. Room (311) was very spacious and OK, although some of the power contacts were worn out and did not connect with my European connector-plugs; but there are enough contacts around to suit the need. Toilet room is very big with separated shower glass-cabin, and all toilet amenities available. Also, the bathroom had a bath. The bed was between hard and soft; for me OK. The TV was big lcd, not sure if “HBO and other movie-channels plus international news BBC & CNN”. The internet was cable (had to unplug from in-room computer) no wireless on the room. In the lobby and dinner area there is wireless internet available; both in-room and wireless connection were slow. Breakfast is typical Chinese but wide assorted with some choice for Westerners (salad, toasted bread, omelet egg-station and some fruit; but that’s about all. No fresh juices; only milk. Did also not encounter yoghurt). The English speaking capability of staff is “NOT PRESENT”, which could make it troublesome if you are on your own without Chinese speaking abilities. Check-in and Check-out is the “old fashioned” Cash deposit and payments with multiple printed and written bills. In normal conditions, I would rate this hotel as “average”, but the price quality made me decide to rank it “very good”.
