Jinling Star Hotel

My first trip to China. Excellent in all ways. Internet access from PC in room included although was in Chinese so hard to use. Vehicle noise on road outside starts early. What is it about Chinese roads that everyone is always sounding their car horns.

Great Rooms, staff, food, Bar, Overall very excellent

I stayed here for three nights on business.  The quality of the furnishings and room decor was very good, including the bathroom.  The bed was quite comfortable.  My main complaint is that the room air conditioner did not cool at all - air blows, but it is not cold - basically a fan.  Many times the lobby area was also very warm, much warmer than outside.  I agree with other reviews that breakfast buffet is average to mediocre.  Western selections are limited.  The Chinese selections looked okay, but the ones I ate weren't that great.  The best bets are the fresh fruit and yoghurt.  Also I must say that the coffee was very good.  The location near the train station is a plus.  The front desk staff and restaurant staff were very helpful
This was a good value for the price, but I wonder if there aren't better quality hotels in Nanjing for the price.

Excellent hotel

Great Hotel

Firstly, do NOT eat here - we foolishly did after checking in later than we thought we would - two restaurants, one must be good - no.  Even the breakfast is low quality.
It is a bog-standard business hotel, with bog-standard amenities.
I only ended up here as it was booked by a third party and therefore had no choice.  Given a choice in the future, I would not stay here.
What other hotel sells "special pants" for "man and woman" in the room, along with a packet of condoms and some socks (men only)?
Idiosyncrasies aside, it did the job, I was there for no more than 10 hours (8 of which were sleep).
But as I say in the title, the hotel is tired, the clientele are tired - literally.  I would seek out other hotels in Nanjing before stopping here again.

A tired hotel, for the tired Chinese Businessman

This is a good value hotel.  Near the train station, it has a low rate, rooms on the larger size, free internet (with computers in the rooms), lots of ammenities, and includes a good  breakfast.  My first room had a bad smell which I had to change, but otherwise it was fine.  The staff struggles with English, but provides friendly service.  You can walk from the train station in about 15 minutes, but otherwise you will need a car to access.
