Kunming Xiangjiang Hotel

It is huge bed, nice room.  The location is far from main road. It nestles in resident area. Overall is good,  it has supermarket nearby.  I have flushing problen but the staff is helpful. They speak a bit English.

Big new nice hotel, located in the neighborhood, in the evening you may meet some locals hanging out. This is residential area and hotel is like apartment-like. Surrounding got some stores, they have a bakery that sell flower cake which is nice. In the morning you meet some stores selling morning snack like bakpao etc. 
Ok Hotel is new so it's a nice pick, got several 3 lifts. Drop off is on the lower floor of the loby so need to take elevator up 1 floor. Nice lobby with big chandelier. Staffs most are young but they really good and try to help but limited English so need to some Tarzan language. Breakfast is one floor up from lobby with lots of variety BUT make sure you come early. My visit is we come like 8 and there are some local group and they TAKE ALL the food. We need to guard our seat and try to pick some of the food that was left well. 
Sleeping is nice, so if you come with tour group they may make you stay here which is good but you need some transport out from this area. 
Also when you leave the hotel please check timing as many tour busses outside and you may need to wait your turn out.

Hotel in Neighbourhood

Good room

When you first enter the hotel, you feel like you are in a star hotel. Despite their old design, the lobby and interior looks luxurious. The room too feels really comfortable.

Had a flushing problem and was taken care fast enough. However, not even one word was uttered when suddenly the lady just left the room when she was done with the repair. 

Had problem asking for wifi password over the phone. They cannot even converse in simple english and we had to get down to the reception and saw the password on the paper.

Saw how the waiter was cleaning up the table during breakfast. Was really surprised that they do not thouroughly clean the table. Smudges left over the table and they just left it as it is. 

And lastly, while trying to get to the entrance of the restaurant, we saw a dog in the hotel and smelled something, and thinking that was the smell of the dog but  actually the dog's poop was lying on the floor next to it. 

Lots of things needs to be improved.



Nice hotel, bad hospitality

Supposely a 5 star hotel. The exterior and interior of the building looks grand and beautiful. The room is very spacious too. All looks good and fit to be a 5 star hotel.  However, the cleanliness of the room is ridiculous. The room as if was never vacuum for a very long time with a lot of hairs on the carpet, some in the bath room floor and bath tub. Also found dirts and foreign objects on the floor, used mineral bottle left in the room. They have switch me to another room but the cleanliness was worst. Then the 3rd room they switched me to is a little bit better but still has hairs on the carpet and bath room floor and dirts on the carpet. I have no choice but to accept it as it was already very late at night and i do not think the other rooms can be any cleaner than this. Very dissapointed even though the stuff apologize as cleanliness of a room should be the highest priority of the hotel, and the hairs and dirts and foreign object is so obvious that no way the hotel cleaning stuff can miss them....bad experience.


Very Dirty Hotel

The hotel is new but you won't believe how they tries to cheat their guest at every opportunity. The internet mention breakfast is RMB 40.00 but when we there the waitress(hostess) told us it is RMB 58.00 and there is no sign of the price. So we asked for a receipt after we paid and she told us that the staff has not started work but insist that we pay cash. We told to send the receipt to our room and of course the receipt did not arrive. The food at breakfast is also terrible with sand in their vegetables and salads. Coffee machines not working dispensing funny looking coloured coffee.

When we checked out, they accused us of stealing their towels and wanted us to pay for it. We threaten to make a police report and told them that they could check our bags. After spending 40 minutes arguing and on the verge of making a police report on extortion, they returned our deposit.

Can you imagine a hotel claiming to be 5 star with 320 rooms behaving like this? And none of their staffs speak English. Location is also so out of the way and taxi charged a severe premium to go to this hotel.
