Pingyao Guang Xian Yuan Hotel

My husband and I stayed in Pingyao for a week at Guangxianyuan with 2 young children (under 4) and their grandparents. Guangxianyuan has beautiful rooms in a quiet lovely courtyard that is home to an Acacia tree that is over 1000 years old. The courtyard is a lovely place to spend the late afternoon, sitting outside and catching up on some reading, and the rooms are comfortable, clean, and have a real "old China" feel. The staff does not speak much English but my parents, who also do not speak Chinese, were able to make themselves understood just fine. The service at Guangxianyuan is excellent. The guesthouse will pick you up at the train station and at the end of our stay they also arranged for a vehicle to take us to the bus station. They also offer complimentary breakfast in the morning, which is Chinese style, and usually consisted of porridge, eggs, bread, and a couple of local cold dishes like cucumbers, tomatoes, or tofu, which was very tasty. We loved Guangxianyuan and would definitely stay there again if we ever return to Pingyao.
