Anda International Youth Hostel

Gorgeous cafe, great location and comfy beds. The cafe sells good coffee and is a great place to hang out. The beds are also very clean and comfy - I always sleep well when I'm here. I like that each of the dorm rooms has an attached bathroom - however, the rooms themselves are in need of some TLC in places (especially the bathrooms in the rooms). In sum, I always stay here when in Hailar - would recommend!

Decided to stay in this hostel after a system glitch in the booking of a hotel. Was initially concern about hygiene, comfort and value for money but, this hostel was great! It exceeded our expectations :) Upon landing in Hulunbuir at night, about 9pm, we took a cab (costing RMB30; apparently it's a flat rate to and fro airport) to the hostel. The cab driver wasn't sure but still, we were brought there safely. (Journey was max about 10-15min? The city is really really near the airport!) Just tell the cab driver that it's near the radio stations.

There were young people hanging around at the entrance of the hostel and music were coming out of the hostel. It was a warm "welcome". There was live singing and band at the common area. Very cosy setting. The check-in was rather quick, with handing over of passport, fees and a deposit of RMB100. 

Both us stayed in a 2-person, single bed room. It has an attached bathroom which was a nice surprise. Because the price was the same as those of sharing rooms. The bed was hard but comfortable. The toilet has abit of smell (which is gone after u bathe/used it. Think it's like stuck sewage smell. Close the door when you want to sleep and u basically can't smell it anymore)  and aesthetically not the most pleasant but for the price we pay, to have our own bathroom was good (tho we did peek into the shared bathroom located on the 2nd level. It looks very decent too!). There is hot shower (just test it before u go under it!)

Location wise, it's pretty all right. We walked 5-8min and got very nice breakfast the next morning. Visited the Erwenki Museum (about RMB30 for cab), old town (RMB8 for cab). The hostel offers some day tours and booking of transport etc. If you have no plans, you can make plans when u reach the hostel with all the local information.

*There is a very very cute dog as a resident there! :)
