Huqinlou guesthouse located adjecent to the Hongcun bridge is clean and comfortable and our room had a pleasent view of the ponds below. Mrs. Guo does not speak any English but she is friendly and helpful. She cooked us a lovely dinner that we chose from an English menu. I enjoyed the pork with bamboo shoots, which is apparently a speciality of this area. The bathroom was a private ensuite but very small. The toilet is western-style but the shower is more Chinese-style in that the water goes everywhere (including on to the toilet). Mrs. Guo provided us with small hand towels and toilet paper but we needed to bring our own bath towels and soap.
