Huangshan Yixian Hongcun Songhetang Hostel

It was difficult to find accommodation for foreigners and this was one of the rare few which could so I gladly booked it despite it being more expensive than others. I might find cheaper inns if I looked around when I reach Hongcun but I did not want that hassle and uncertainty hence, I decided to book this inn online. I stayed in a double room in the old section on the second floor which I think is much better than the twin rooms on the first floor as they were just beside the inn's restaurant so there wasn't much privacy and peace. However, the steps to the double room were very steep and narrow so it is not advisable for the elderly. The steps to the new block were gentler. The room was full of character and it was a rather different experience compared to normal hotels. The toilet was however, modern with a seat toilet and a separate shower area with glass door. Towels, shampoo, bath foam and bedroom slippers were provided. This is something that not all inns in Hongcun provide according to the reviews I've read. Location-wise, it was difficult to find the inn as there are several alleyways and we got lost several times when we ventured out. A tip is to go against the flow of the waters as the inn is located on the upstream. You could also call the innkeeper to pick you up at the entrance.
