Huangshan Bed and Breakfast

From the moment Stephen picked us up from the bus station until the moment he waved us away at the bus to Huangshan Mountain, we felt like guests in an old friends house. Great food, amazing rooms, unlimited beer in the fridge and travel advice.

Amazing, felt like a luxury home away from home!

Overall opinion: good place to stay if you like personal and local contact. Food was good, rooms could be more clean but had everything you need. Not much to do in the neighborhood but we didn't feel this was necessary.

I came here with my boyfriend, my parents and sister for 3 nights. My mom booked the B&B on Booking.com; 2 double rooms and 1 single room. When we arrived at the train station, Steven's daughter was waiting for us to guide us to the B&B. We took a bus to the city center, from there three of us took a taxi together with the daughter and two could ride along with Steven on his e-bike. Cost for this ride was for Steven.
Once arrived, five glasses of tea were served. Steven explained shortly something about the area and about the B&B. There was a problem with our booking. Steven told us that it was not possible to give us 2 double rooms and 1 single room. We could choose to have 1 triple room (3 seperate beds) and 1 double room (kingsize bed) or to have 2 double rooms (1 kingsize bed and 1 separate beds) and 1 room with just a bed in it (no airco) and the person sleeping there could use the bathroom of the room next-door, the kingsize bedroom. This wasn't exactly what we booked but we didn't complain and just asked for the 2 doubles and a single. My sister stayed in the single room and got a fan because in full summer it only cools down to 27 degrees Celsius at night here... On the day we left we noticed no other guests had arrived so the triple bedroom was available all that time! He could have given us that room instead of the tiny room for my sister...
Overall, the rooms were just so so. You can hear the train passing by very loudly, even at night. That is somewhat annoying. They've never been to our room during our stay to clean or to change towels/sheets. 

Besides this, we had a good time here. Steven answers all your questions, lets you taste different kinds of tea and arranges trips you want to do. We went to Huangshan mountain one day and really loved it! Steven showed us which trail we had to follow and arranged us a private van to get there. On the second day we went to visit the three ancient villages but we only liked one. A bit disappointing. 

We had dinner in the B&B every night, really good food, simple but full of flavor. 
Breakfast was ok but you could not choose what you would like to eat in the morning.

Good budget place to stay.

How can it be ? It has extraordinary good comment on booking.com, but it is not that good at all. There are so many other accommodations which are by far much better than that one. This hostel is far outside of the city center at a railway track in a new built living area. There are no shops nor restaurants near by. You really depend on Steve, the owner.
He is managing this place for his own good, means he suggests trips for his guests if it fits into his schedule. Once he was a tourist guide, and now he runs this Hostel.
I stayed here for a few days and really regret. The food his wife served was simple and not that good, just basic. If you do not order dinner with him he's paying you disrespect, means there is no service at all. I did ask simple questions about chinese life and he replies that it would not be my business as I am only a tourist. So be careful with what you ask him! At the end I was leaving and that's it, only wonder how he got all the other good comments ?
Had problems to get access with the internet many times and he told me to switch it on again before I enter the room. This procedure happened twice a day, annoying!
