Very good
465 reviewsI booked a single ensuite room (17th floor), though could tell by the room set up, 2 pillows, 2 glasses, 2 cups, 2 towels, that it is considered a double room and suitable for 2 people. As a single person I found it a very comfortable place to hang out in and did not need to use common areas. It would be snug for 2 people. There was a table and chair, with convenient plug sockets that made working on my laptop easy. A kettle allowed me to boil my own water (buy your own bottles). Hooks and 2 hangers was sufficient for me to hang up key items, and the shelving was very useful. I did not watch the tv as not my thing. Air conditioner worked fine. The bed was comfortable with clean bedding. A tall person would not be able to stretch out; I am 5ft 3 inches and was fine, though if I were a few inches taller , then my feet would have touched the wall. The ensuite was clean. The shower has hot water, though the temperature is variable when using it. I would have liked to have had a floor mat on the tiled floors to avoid slipping, though then realised I could use the hand towel. Plenty of toilet roll, toiletries in containers fixed to the wall, a hairdryer, i.e. everything needed. This place is in a good location near exit C of Yau Ma Tai metro station. There are many shops and eating places nearby. I walked to several vegetarian restaurants (I can walk far). I ended up getting breakfast from the nearby bakery most days. Travel by bus or metro is convenient. It feels like a safe area, and as a female travelling alone I always felt safe. I spoke with reception several times during my 8 night stay and always found everyone to be polite and helpful, and all with good English. I had checked in at 9pm with no problems. The doorman sat in the foyer was friendly and directed me where to go as soon as he saw a case. I was in a private corner room and it was very quiet; the elevator was on one side and empty space on the other side so no noise from neighbouring rooms. The room has key card entry and I like how I never had to go to reception to get the card recharged as often happens at other places I have stayed. The is called a Youth Hostel, though if you are a more mature person looking for a cheap ensuite room to stay in , then this is the place for you. If you have booked a private room you will not be experiencing any type of hostel vibe if you do not wish and will not be disturbed by groups of backpackers. Apart from check in, you will get the elevator straight to your floor view it just as a cheap hotel. If you are a backpacker looking for a cheap and convenient place to stay , then this is for you. If you are the type of backpacker who is looking for the upbeat, energetic vibe, this is not one of those places…though there are posters up related to pub crawls, activities and tours. There is a small common area in the receptions area with a small kitchen corner, some books and games.
