Longyuan Hotel

The room was spacious, beautiful bathroom. All amenities you can think of: robes, slippers, even toothbrushes and razors provided. Many good choices in the buffet restaurant (my favorites were wontons and various fish and seafood dishes). Few things to be aware of: 1. As someone previously mentioned, not all credit card accepted. I think you may have luck with visas, but definitely no american express, and out of couple master cards i have, only the one from HSBC bank was working. The hotel requires about $300-400 USD deposit at check in, so just to be safe, you may want to have that much in cash with you in case the credit card will not work. 2. No breakfast was included with a room rate, and you are required to pay to use the spa (about $14 USD for both - a bit too much imho), although the spa with different pool temperatures was interesting, but we only used it once, It also was a bit dated, which was surprising as the hotel itself is quite new 3. The staff was very nice, but practically no one speaks English - a bit strange for a 5* hotel, although it is in the middle of the country and tourists normally do not venture here. The housekeepers walk with iphones where you can talk your request and get it translated, so worked fine - but you cannot get any help over the phone... 4. That led to a small problem at our checkout - we had to leave at 3:30 in the morning, and we could not get bell boy to come up and take our luggage (or rather did not think it was important), However, the hotel rooms are in a different building than the lobby, conference rooms, spa and restaurants are situated, so to get there we had to walk through some up and down steps in the pitch dark, It was really scary and I think ridiculous that these areas are not lit up a little at night - I guess the establishments in the socialist country do not have to worry about injury lawsuits. I suggest if you have to leave at night - arrange bellboy ahead of time and do not attempt to carry your own luggage. 5. Internet is free, but slow and unreliable - but I assume it is common throughout China. Other than that - I found the hotel a pleasant experience, with nice walkways around the property (considering the weather is not hot and humid as it was for the most of our stay), and if I ever had to go back to Hengshui, i have no problem staying there again.
