34 reviewsThe Phoenix chain of hotels are a consistent chain of hotels in Asia. During my visit last year, we stayed in several Phoenix properties. The Phoenix in Haishen is a busy hotel in an industrial area of Guangzhou. It's a large facility and rooms are spread throughout the hotel. Service is good from the Bell staff and important in this establishment. The rooms are nice with great amenities. Try the bottle of "Great Wall" wine that's provided in the room. It costs $5US. It's smooth with surprising complexity. The balcony was large and overlooked a lake in the back of the hotel. The restaurant was tight for such a large hotel and made breakfast very awkward. The buffet was literally served in the hallway outside the dining room. Too many people and not enough space. Breakfast becomes a "contact sport". Finally, the other memory I have of the Phoenix is the granite that was literally sweating. The hotel was a skating rink with standing water. I assume this was because of the weather being unseasonably warm and the cold granite reacted. It was scary and dangerous.
