Our stay in Vallenar was memorable , especially through the great experience we had staying at Hotel Esmeralda. It was the day before Christmas and the town was full of shoppers , it was so easy to walk into town and share the experience. The hotel is strategically located and we had reserved a double room , but we were offered two single rooms for the same price , it was up to us to chose!! The hotel is clean and quiet and there is good parking in the rear. We stayed 2 days , and when we came back the evening of first Christmas Day , the owners invited us to a delicious dinner amidst their family celebration. The celebration lasted into the night and we have experienced the true spirit of Christmas. We learned a lot about life in Chile and we found it hard to leave such friendly people! Vallenar is well located to discover the mountains to the east , an area called Alto Huasco. An unknown gem , but absolutely a part of Chile to discover. Coming back in the Hotel Esmeralda was always a warm experience . The breakfast is ample and varied . The beds are clean and good . The whole hotel is clean and organized.What else can we ask for!
