Very kind owner. Rooms basic but clean and everything worked. We have been satisfied. Calm nice hostal, close to center but very calm. Breakfast was prepared soon. Normal. cloe is good and cheap restaurant and 7/11 shop across the street. Would go again.

Nice, clean, quit place to spend several days in dust of Atakama. It is located outside of vilage center, enough to have peace, but not too far. Hostel have big courtyard. The hosts are pleasant and helpful. Wi Fi works good(rare in this part of the world :) Breakfast is good.

If you are a discerning backpacker coming to terms with the cruel joke of the increase in prices as you cross from Bolivia, there is hope!

With a high price portfolio on popular accommodation websites, we decided to take our chances on availability when we arrived in San Pedro de Atacama. When we knocked on the door at Tuyasco, we were greeted with a smile from the owner and he showed us the rooms he had.

There is an excellent communal kitchen, pleasant courtyard, fast wifi, several clean bathrooms (with hot water) and a secure location.

Although they don't personally have bikes for hire, the hostel three doors down offers good bikes for fair prices.  A 3-4hr bike ride to the Valle de la Luna viewpoint was a great morning activity, from budget and calorie burning perspectives.

The twin room was great and they cleaned the room each day, which actually caught us off guard as it hasn't  happened to us in a hostel in South America before!

The breakfast was fine - a fresh bread roll, cheese, ham, yoghurt and coffee.  If your glass if half empty like some of the reviews below, you may describe it as a 'bread roll'.  If half full,  you may describe it as 'borderline continental' (alas, no muesli).

The prices were a lot keener in person in comparison to booking online so if you would like to book in advance, it may be worth giving them a call directly.

When you hear of people paying $20 per dorm bed in this tourist driven town, knocking on the door here was a wise choice for us.

This is a great place to stay, located 5mins walking from the city center and still in a quiet area. 
The rooms are basic, with a bed and a drawer, but very clean and with electricity and high speed wifi.
The bathrooms are in common but they have to be shared with 2-3 people and they are always clean.
The patio is nice and relaxing.
The kitchen is well equipped.
My only concern is the breakfast, which is included in the price but nobody can have it, since it starts at 7:30 but all excursions leave at 6:30 at the latest. I d suggest to remove it from the price and just keep some tea boiler and bags and coffee maker available, if guests will want some cookies they ll buy it in the nearby facilities (as they do now)

Location is not too far of a walk from the main streets. Very quiet but safe area. The owner didn’t speak English and we didn’t speak Spanish so there was a bit of a communication problem. However, she was very nice - served us breakfast and cleaned our rooms. Rooms were very clean and had good hot showers. We booked for airport transfer transport and our booking time got changed. The owner received a call from the transport transfer company and knocked on our room to give us the information (although it took us a while to understand the message).

Good place to have rest on the long trip

Set around a sunny courtyard with many tables and chairs for chilling out. The bathrooms are functional and provide solar heated water 24 hours a day. The kitchen facilities are excellent, well stocked with equipment and fully working. The owner (older gentleman) was really helpful, he allowed us to store our bags after checkout and even return for a shower before a long night bus to Santiago.
Overpriced and poor value just like everything else in San Pedro. The included breakfast is a joke, a single bread roll with cheese and jam and a cup of coffee. You're lucky if you actually get served anything!  Most of the time the staff are more preoccupied with their own conversation than serving you and clearing the table from the previous guest. My advice, buy some extra bread from the shop next door and use their cheese and jam. Location is on the edge of town, but close to the bus terminal.
